Forever and Always

Jared's sitting at the table, eyes glued to the clock as he waits for his fiancé, Evan. It's three hours since he was supposed to arrive and it is getting late. He's sure Evan would've called if he couldn't come. So he waits a little longer for Evan to arrive, but there's no one in the driveway. No ones' seen him either. Jared's getting worried? 'Is something wrong?'

Jared's gaze goes back to the window but his worried thoughts are interrupted by the ringing phone. He picks it up and an unfamiliar voice tells him that something's happened and he should come asap.

Jared thinks back to December when Evan got down on one knee and said to Jared,

Through the good and the bad and the ugly
We'll grow old together
Forever and always

Jared parks and walks through the entrance and to the front desk. They lead him through a million hallways and Jared's worry only grows. The hallways were like a never ending maze. They tell Jared what had happened but he could barely hear. He tried as hard as he can to keep a straight face as he walks into the room.

Evan was there, many machines hooked up to him. Jared sits on a chair next to Evan's bed and squeezes his hand tightly. They start talking about all the kids they were going to adopt together. They talk about how they would have a good life and buy that house on the hillside where they would peacefully stay forever,

Whether rich or for poor or for better
We'll still love each other

Then Jared gets an idea. He calls in the nurses and brings up the chaplain who says a couple verses as if it was a formal wedding. They borrow some rings from the couple next door. Everybody's laughing but the tears are still falling down their faces.
Jared looks into Evan's eyes, both crying, as he says

I want you forever

Through the good and the bad and the ugly
We'll grow old together
And always remember
Whether happy or sad or whatever
We'll still love each other

Jared finished is vows but the beeps are beeps are slowing down. Evan's voice is raspy and weak as he says

I'll love you forever
Forever and always
Please just remember
Even if I'm not there
I'll always love you
Forever and always
