Introduction
If you asked someone random if magic was real, they would be very likely to answer with a positive 'yes'.

Even though most people don't believe in magic, the truth is that it does exist in a few people across the globe. One of those people was Evan Hansen.

He was born with very unique water powers. His hair was pure H2O and he had the ability to control water like he came right out of Avatar. His father had left when he realized that his son was a freak, but his mom was always his source of validation and comfort. Still, Evan felt like he wasn't meant to be here, and when his father left, he created a hole in Evan's heart.

Another one of the magic people on planet earth is Jared Kleinman. With fire for hair and his control of flames, he could be easily compared to a fire bender. Sadly, ever since his beautiful flames fluttered brightly, his parents have been terrified of the boy. They called him a mistake, an accident, a freak, and they never gave him the love and care that every child needs. They crumbled his self image and burnt it like the flames on his head. They fueled the fire of his insecurities. He hated him even more than his parents did.

When Evan got angered or embarrassed, his water would steam, and when he wept, the tears were a mess to mop up.
When Jared would get mad or flustered, his flames burned brighter than usual and one could feel the heat radiating off him from yards away. When he cried, his eyes burst into flames instead of the typical liquid.

Both boys never went to any school, they were just homeschooled. Heidi Hansen wanted to protect Evan from the judging children and she wanted to protect the other children from slipping or just getting wet. Rania and Louis Kleinman wanted to protect themselves from judgement and they were afraid that he would hurt his peers.

Heidi always let Evan play in the yard so he could get a taste of fresh air, but she would refrain from allowing him to go out to stores or restaurants. Evan was home alone a lot, but he was always able to occupy himself. Heidi gave him as much attention as she could when she was home.

Jared had never been outside. His parents had never even allowed him to look out windows. His entire childhood was spent locked in a basement. His parents had always attempted to defuse his flames. Never getting vitamin D, he was extraordinarily depressed.

Jared's POV
I'm four years old. I'm bored. Mom and dad are arguing upstairs. I hate their arguments almost as much as I hate being down here. I decide to read my books. I look at my Winnie the Pooh book, before picking it up. I look at the white-ish-yellow ball thing in the corner of the page. I think it's called a sun. No matter how much I look up in the basement, I can never find a sun. I think that it's outside. Momma and poppa yelled at me when I asked if I could go outside. I look up from my book when I hear the basement door open. I can hear momma's voice loud and clear.

"Well I already told you, I can't just 'put it out'! We've tried so many times!"
She yells at poppa. They're both mad. She turns to me and speaks coldly,
"You're tearing this marriage apart!" She scoffs, shoving a glass of water towards me. "Drink up freak"

She slams it down causing it to splash onto my head. I feel pain surge through my being.

"But momma! It hurts! I can't drink it!"
I yell after her.
