Evan held Jared's hand tightly as they walked down the sidewalk to home. "Jared?" Evan softly spoke. Jared let out a 'hmm' and looked at the taller boy. "I... I love you" Evan said before kissing Jared's cheek.
Jared's eyes lit up and he pulled Evan into a gentle kiss.
Jared woke up, smiling. His eyes slowly opened and he yawned. 'Damn,' Jared thought, 'another one of these dreams.' He didn't know exactly when it started, but for about six months, Jared had been having dreams where him and Evan were doing romantic things that seemed so real. Although he had denied it with passion at first, he had come to terms with his crush. He would give anything for those dreams to become reality.
"Hey Evan?" Jared spoke. They were walking home together after a long day at school.
"Yeah?" Evan replied.
"I-uh I've been having these really weird dreams recently. About you and me... doing things."
Evan looked at Jared funny. "What things?"
Jared sighed, ready for rejection. "Romantic things. Like kissing or holding hands or professing our love for each other. I know it's weird and wrong but, I think- I think I have a big crush on you.... please just- don't hate me."Evan looked shocked. He smiled. "Jared, I've been having dreams like that too! I can't believe you like me back!"
Jared looked up in shock, smiling. They both leaned in and- DINGGGG DINGGGG DINGGGGThe school bell. Jared woke in a shock. Shit, he thought, another dream. He gathered his things quickly and rushed out of the classroom. He must've fallen asleep in class. At least it was the end of the day. Now he can walk home with Evan for real.
The two boys were walking together and Jared almost felt the urge to tell Evan, but he knew better. Reality isn't the same as dreamland, sadly.
Jared said nothing about it to anyone. His parents were homophobes. He had no friends but Evan, and Evan would just thing that he was weird. Jared decided that it was better as a secret.
It was the last week of school. Five months since the dreams started. Scenes popped up in Jared's mind every time he closed his eyes. They all felt so real. Jared was tired of waking up only to realize that nothing was real.
Jared and Evan were walking home together."Jared, is something wrong? You haven't been talking much for a while and I'm worried." Evan asked. Jared was shocked that Evan noticed.
Jared shrugged it off and replied, "It's fine, I'm fi-"Jared was cut off by a car slamming into his side. Evan backed away and screamed in terror. He memorized the license plate of the culprit. 'Crunchy'. Evan would've laughed, if he wasn't currently screaming.
Evan called the police AND explained.
It had been two months since Jared had gone into a coma. The doctors said that he wasn't waking up because he didn't want to wake up. Evan was heartbroken. He truly loved Jared. Little did he know what Jared was dreaming about.
Evan and Jared were walking on the boardwalk together. Evan suddenly got down on one knee and proposed to the other male. Jared started crying and said yes.
Jared often worried if this was all a dream. He stated his worries to his husband, who told him that this was all real and that he would never leave.
Jared promised to never leave. Even though it was all a dream.
