Chapter 4

I stared at Danielle as she headed to the door of our flat with Liam. “You cannot seriously leave me here alone with for strangers!”

Dan waved a hand over her shoulder dismissively. “You’ll be fine!”

“But-”

“Harry, no flirting with Kor! Niall, keep an eye on him and Louis! Zayn, you’re in charge!” She yelled, completely ignoring me.

“Danielle!” I complained.

She threw me a grin over her shoulder right as she shut the door.

I turned around to see the four boys smiling back at me from various spots in the living room. I returned their smiles with a suspicious glare. “If any of you come within my three foot personal space bubble, I make no promises concerning your safety.”

They all laughed at me as though I was joking. When I didn’t crack up, of their eyes widened.

“She wasn’t kidding,” Niall stated, staring at me like I had two heads.

I crossed my arms over my chest, popping my hip. “Not at all.”

They all took one giant step away from me.

I grinned. “That’s better. I’ll be in the kitchen making dinner. Nachos good?”

Niall nodded enthusiastically while Harry shook his head. “She went from threatening us to making us dinner just like that. I’m afraid to eat it.”

“She scares me more than Nialler without food…” Louis muttered.

I stuck my tongue out at them then headed for the kitchen.

After dinner, I laid out four movies for the boys to pick from for us to watch. They ended up choosing Captain America, putting it in the DVD player (which apparently hadn’t been hooked up since Dani moved into this flat) while Niall and I headed into the kitchen to make some popcorn.

“I think all we have is the movie theatre kind,” I said, kneeling down to plunder through the bottom shelf of the pantry.

Niall laughed. “What’s wrong with that?”

I shrugged, still searching for the box.

“Why don’t you like being called Ra-Ra?” He asked suddenly, his voice coming from right beside me, making me jump and smack my head on the shelf above me.

I leaned back, rubbing my scalp. “Ouch. What was the question?”

He chuckled again. “Why don’t you like being called Ra-Ra? It’s different and kinda cute.”

I blushed, immediately looking away to continue digging through the cupboard. “Um… It’s not that I don’t like being called it-like you said, it’s different and clearly I like being different. Hello, I’m the only girl at dance with red hair. Anyway, it’s how Dani came up with it that makes it annoy me.”

“How’d she come up with it?”

I finally found the popcorn and stood up, taking it over to the microwave. “Well, I’m not a fan of Lady Gaga at all. Her music just annoys me. And you know how in Bad Romance she goes, ‘Rah, rah, rah, ah, ah,’ or something? Yeah, well, Dani thought it’d be fun to start calling me Ra-Ra because of that and because it made sense with my name being Kora.”

He laughed again. He did that a lot, I noticed.

I rolled my eyes, turning away from Niall to get the popcorn out of the microwave. “This is why I don’t let people call me that. They all think it’s really weird or really funny. Can you get a bowl out of that cabinet?”

He handed me a big bowl, shaking his head at me. “I don’t think it’s weird, I think it’s cute and unique.”

I smiled a teensy bit, feeling butterflies form in my stomach. Okay, this whole feeling shy thing around this boy had to stop.

“Do you mind if I call you that?” Niall suddenly asked, nearly making me drop the bowl of popcorn.

I looked up at him, stunned. “Um… sure? I mean, you can if you want.” Why did I just say that?! I didn’t even like Danielle called me that and it had been her idea!

He flashed that adorable grin. “Well, come on Ra-Ra. The boys are waiting.”

I followed him back into the living room and sat on the same couch as him, but on the opposite end. Louis immediately yanked the snack food out of my hands and started distributing handfuls to everyone, not caring if you had somewhere to put it or not. Most people ended up with a mound of popcorn in their laps. I glared as he dumped some onto my legs.

Niall flicked a piece at me to get my attention. I looked up and he smiled, causing me to roll my eyes and look away.

“If you keep doing that, you’re eyes are going to get stuck that way,” Louis said, throwing a kernel at me.

I stuck my tongue out in return.

“I’m probably going to regret this…” Niall said, gesturing to his braces.

“I can find you something else,” I found myself saying before my brain processed what was coming out of my mouth.

Niall grinned, but shook his head. “That’s okay. I’ll live.”

The other boys all looked at us with strange looks. I glared at them before suddenly finding the popcorn in my lap very interesting. Their laughing just made me even more annoyed with myself.

The movie began and we all settled in to watch it. Within the first fifteen minutes, the exhaustion I had been ignoring pretty much all week swept over me and I was out like a light.
