Chapter 13

It had been almost two weeks since our date. Niall and I had been hanging out any chance we got, but it was hard because the boys barely had any free-time with all their interviews and working on their new album. We hadn’t gotten the chance to go out again, but we were going to try to soon.

Today was dress rehearsal for tomorrow’s Charity Ball performance. I was sitting in a chair in our dressing room while Dani curled my hair for me. We were in no rush because the rehearsal didn’t start for another two hours, which was why we were the only two of the girls here yet.

A knock came on the door right as Danielle excused herself to the ladies room. I crinkled my forehead at her, wondering why she was suddenly dying to go pee.

The knock came again.

“Just a sec!” I yelled, finishing the last loose curl Dani had abandoned before getting up to see who was there.

I opened the door to find Niall standing on the other side, his hands hidden behind his back.

“Oh, hey,” I said awkwardly, suddenly very aware that I was standing there in booty shorts and a tank top that showed quite a bit of my sports bra. In any other situation I wouldn’t have felt self conscience, but things were always different with Niall.

“Hey!” He grinned.

I tugged my top up a bit. “Whatcha got behind your back?”

His smile grew as he handed me a small box wrapped in silver paper.

I raised my brows, but opened the gift anyway. Inside the box were two tickets for a concert. I squealed when I read the name of the band.

“You got me tickets to the script?” I asked, jumping up and down when he nodded. I threw my arms around him, still bouncing around. “This is amazing! You’re awesome!”

He laughed. “I’m glad you like it. I saw they were coming here and remembered that you used one of their songs for your solo so I asked Danielle what she thought of me getting you tickets to their concert. She said it would be perfect because they’re your favorite band. I thought the concert could be our next date if you want…” His voice trailed off like he was afraid of my answer.

I flung my arms around his neck again. “Of course! That’ll be a fantastic second date! Thank you so much!”

“You’re welcome.” He chuckled. “I’ll let you get ready now. See you soon?”

“Definitely.” I stood on my toes and kissed his cheek real quick to thank him again before I went back into the dressing room.

Danielle was standing by our counter, snickering at the huge grin on my face. “I think you found yourself a keeper, my dear.”

A blush colored my cheeks, but I managed to respond. “Don’t rush things, girl. We’re not even officially a couple yet.”

“Whatever you say. You two are perfect together, though.”

I smiled at the ground, sitting back in my chair so Danielle could do my makeup.

Niall smirked at me as we got in our places, ruffling my hair as I stood beside him. “Ready?”

“This is just rehearsal. No big deal.”

Harry began to sing. I stared at their drummer, Josh, so I wouldn’t end up smiling at Niall and losing my character. The whole time I was dancing I had to remind myself to look like I had an attitude and not grin because all I could think about was going to the concert Sunday with Niall. At the end, when I grabbed Niall’s tie and made him look at me, I cracked up because he winked at me which, in turn, made him laugh.
