Chapter 2
Thankfully, I made it home in one piece. Dani wouldn’t be home for a few hours so I grabbed a bag of chips out of the pantry and plopped down on the couch to watch some Doctor Who. It had become my new favorite TV show ever since I moved to London and I was currently Netflixing it to get caught up on all the seasons I missed. What can I say, I can be a bit of a nerd.
I ate a few chips before putting the bag back and rummaging through the refrigerator for something sweeter.
“Bingo!” I yelled, discovering a plate of chocolate dipped strawberries Liam must have given to Danielle. It didn’t have her name on it and she hadn’t eaten them yet, so fair game.
I took the plate and a bottle of water back into the living room. Three episodes of DW later, the front door opened. I didn’t bother to look away from the screen, not caring if it was a robber as long as I got to finish this episode.
“Kor? You’re already home?” Dani’s voice questioned from behind me.
“SHHHH!” I yelled, still not looking away. “I’m about to find out who River Song really is!”
A male’s laugh got my attention. I reluctantly pressed pause and looked over my shoulder to see Liam standing there with Danielle.
“Oh, hey, Liam.” I said, waving once.
He smiled. “Hey, Kora.”
“I thought you were going out with Riley today?” Dani questioned as she headed to the fridge.
I rolled my green eyes, groaning as I flopped back on the couch. “He showed up an hour late so I told him I’d rather walk home.”
“Where are my strawberries?”
I glanced at the empty plate on the coffee table. “Uh, I ate them.”
Dani mumbled something, but came into the living room, pulling Liam with her. “You to dump that guy,” she said louder as she sat across from me.
“He was a jerk today, but he’s really sweet most of the time.”
“He’s a jerk all the time.”
“Nah-uh.”
She turned away from me to face Liam. “Please tell her she’s mental.”
I rolled my eyes at her.
Liam looked at me, then at Danielle, then back at me. “How many times as he shown up late?”
“Like three. He completely forgot twice.” Gosh, Riley did sound like a jerk.
“It doesn’t sound like he really cares.” Liam told me, looking one hundred percent honest. “I think you deserve better.”
“You don’t know me,” I shot back.
“Kora,” Danielle warned, giving me ‘the look’.
I mumbled an apology.
“Fair enough,” Liam said, slinging an arm around Dani. “But you shouldn’t let someone treat you that way.”
I sighed, turning my attention to the ceiling fan so I wouldn’t have to tell him he was right. Of course he was right, but Riley wasn’t always a jerk. He could be really sweet and caring when he’s in a good mood.
“Anyway,” Danielle said, quickly changing subjects. She could probably tell I was starting to shut them out. “When the band’s next gig?” She asked her boyfriend.
“We’re performing in three weeks at a local charity ball. We’re pretty free until then.”
“Maybe I should take Kora to that to get her to stop being so sour.”
I rolled my eyes again. “Oh, yes. I definitely want to spend my night gushing over some boy-band.” I blushed as I realize Liam was sitting right there. “No offence! Sorry, I’m just in a bad mood.”
Liam chuckled, waving a hand dismissively. “No worries. Our music isn’t for everyone.”
“It’s not that I don’t like you guys’ music, I do. It’s just I don’t get why all these girls are falling head-over-heels for you when they don’t know any of you personally.”
Liam shrugged, not seeming to know the answer to that himself.
“What song are you guys performing?” Danielle asked as she cuddled up to him. If I wasn’t in a mood I would have teased them.
“I Want, More Than This, and-of course-What Makes You Beautiful.” He answered, counting them off on his fingers.
“You know what would be sick?” Dani suddenly grinned, sitting up in excitement.
I raised a brow at her as Liam asked, “What?”
“If One Direction had some girls dance with them during I Want. It’s such a fun song to choreograph to and I’ve already come up with some amazing moves for it.”
Liam thought about it for a minute before smiling back to her. “That would be pretty sick. I’ll talk to Paul about it tonight.”
Dani happy danced before turning on me, giving me a puppy-dog look that was nearly impossible to ignore with her big brown eyes enforcing it.
“Don’t even think about it,” I cautioned, sitting up to hold a had out to stop her.
She jumped up from her seat and crawled on her knees over to me. “Please, Kor? Please do the dance?”
“No, Dani. I don’t want to get mobbed by fans for touching one of those boys.”
She pouted her lips further. “Please, Kora?”
I shook my head, scooting away from her. “No, Dani.”
“Come on! It’s just a dance.”
“Yes and their obsessed will murder me for it.”
Liam suddenly joined Dani, sitting in front of me and pouting. “Please?”
Dani laid her head on the couch, batting her eyelashes at me. “PLEASE???”
I looked between them, my will wavering. “No, Danielle.”
She grabbed my hand in both of hers, full on pleading now. “I can’t do this without you, Kora!”
Liam mimicked his girlfriend, grabbing my other hand. “Yeah, we need you, Kora!”
These two were as annoying as heck sometimes…
I rolled my eyes at their childish antics. “If I get murdered I’m blaming you two.”
Dani jumped to her feet, looking like I had just made her day. “Is that a yes?”
“Yes, that was a yes…”
“YAY!” She shouted, grabbing Liam in a hug as he laughed at her.
I shook my head, unable to keep from laughing at the couple. “You two are evil together!”
“But you love us.” Danielle reminded me, sticking her tongue out.
“Do I have a choice?” I snickered. “So, when’s rehearsal?”
