Chapter 3

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! I woke up to the incessant ringing of Zane’s phone. I was too lazy to turn it off. But seeing as Zane didn’t even stir, I reluctantly got up from her bed and turned it off.

How can this girl not wake up? The sound was echoing from the walls of her room. To add to that, her phone was right beside her ear!

I started shaking her body, trying to wake her up. It was only 6:30. School starts at 8, for crying out loud! Usually, I would’ve went back to sleep, but I’m wide awake now.

Ugh, what was wrong with this girl?! I’ve been shaking her non-stop for five minutes now! Any normal person would’ve woken up, thinking there was an earthquake. Getting fed up, I grabbed a hold of the side of her mattress and flipped it over. She fell to the floor with a loud thump and quickly got to her feet.

“What happened?! Is there an earthquake?!” she asked, clearly panicked.

I just stood there laughing to myself. She finally saw the flipped over mattress, and put two and two together.

“What did you do that for?!” she yelled at me.

“Revenge, for waking me up this early in the morning,” I said, looking at my nails.

Zane checked the clock on her bedside table and her eyes went wide.

“OH MY GOSH! It’s 6:45 already?!” Zane exclaimed. Anger completely forgotten.

“Yeah, what are you freaking about?” I questioned.

“I don’t have enough time to get ready!” she screamed. Quickly, she grabbed her clothes and shut the bathroom door behind her. I simply didn’t understand what she had to get up so early for. She wasn’t ugly. Far from that actually. Half an hour should be more than enough time. Well, that’s what I thought. Obviously, she thought otherwise.

Coming to the conclusion that I had nothing better to do, I went back to my own room to get ready, myself. I entered my bathroom haven, and did my morning regimen. I decided on a slightly girly look today. I picked out a red, sleeveless blouse with ruffles, dark skinny jeans, and some dark purple wedges with rhinestones on the heel. Yes, I can also be girly. Although it took me a while to walk normally in heels. Time and help from my mom. I put on a hair band since my hair was getting in the way, and it was annoying.

I was in and out of my room in fifteen minutes flat, usual time for me. I peered out my window and saw Zane wasn’t out of her bathroom yet. Shaking my head, I headed to the dining hall for breakfast. I kissed my parents good morning and took my seat.

They both stared at me and I just didn’t know why.

“Honey, are you feeling alright?” my mom started touching my forehead.

“Should we call in a doctor?” my dad asked with a worried face. They were really good actors.
