Chapter 4
“And that is the definition of covalent bond,” Mr. Harris finished.
I was completely and utterly bored, and sleepy. I already knew the topic and Mr. Harris just kept on giving us similar examples. Trying to kill time I guess. It was easy enough to understand. Either that or I was really a nerd.
I kept checking the time every five minutes. Lunch was next and I just can’t wait to get out of here. No offence to Mr. Harris. As soon as the bell rang, and we were dismissed, I exited the room faster than you could blink. I really needed to sleep earlier at night. Not that saying that actually made a difference though. I’ve been telling myself for years now, and my regular sleeping time is still around two in the morning. Scumbag brain won’t let me sleep at night.
My last class was one of the few classes that Zane and I didn’t have together. Thank goodness. We are stuck together like glue most of the time. It was nice having some time away from her. Not in a bad way, though. I love her and all, but a girl’s got to have some privacy, too.
I headed for the cafeteria and fell in line to get my food. They were serving french fries today, and I was very thankful for that. I absolutely loved french fries. Unhealthy, I know, but it’s delicious, so don’t care. It wasn’t like it served as my water. I don’t eat it every day. I paid for my food and took my seat with the crew, but not before I took, like, ten packets of ketchup from the counter.
I simply said hello to them, and proceeded to giving all my attention to the plate of food in front of me. I opened three packets of ketchup, and ate my fries. I felt the several eyes staring at me, and I started to squirm.
“What?” I asked, suddenly feeling self-conscious. “Do I have something on my face?”
“No, but there’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you,” Tyler, who was seated beside me, answered. He’s around average height, with dark hair and eyes. Tyler was very unpredictable, so I have absolutely no idea was he was going to ask. One minute he’s serious, the next, he’s rolling in the floor laughing. Despite his bipolar attitude, we all love him, and he was really fun to hang out with.
He continued his statement, “Are you dipping your fries in ketchup, or are you using the fries to scoop up your ketchup, because spoons are too mainstream?”
The entire table erupted into laughter, and I just rolled my eyes.
“Haha, very funny,” I said sarcastically. “So funny that I forgot to laugh.”
Tyler draped his arm around my shoulder and said, “Just kidding! But it is a weird way of eating...”
“I have the right to eat my fries any way I want,” I said. And pretty soon, I was joining in on their laughter.
“Hey, did you tell Jeydon about our meeting later?” Zane reminded me. Oh right! I almost forgot.
“Oh, not yet. Thanks for bringing that up. Where is he, anyway?”
We scanned the cafeteria and finally saw him. Though, it didn’t really matter that we found him. He had a wall of girls surrounding him. Like his very own version of the Great Wall of China. It looked virtually impossible to get through.
“Well, it looks like we’re not gonna get to him any time soon,” Zane said, voicing out my thoughts.
“Looks like it,” I agreed. Then an idea hit me. Zane looked at me expectantly.
“I’ll just ask Adrianne for his number,” I said, pulling out my phone. Adrianne Coleman was one of the most popular cheerleaders, and one of the most popular girls in school. With long blond locks, and bright green eyes, her looks could kill. She’s very nice, too. Even when I quit cheerleading because of...certain reasons, she still remained my friend. A lot of the people I met in cheering are still friends with me now, since my reason for quitting was clearly reasonable.
