Chapter 12

Just like yesterday, I couldn’t sleep. That was a big deal for me. If we take into consideration that it was a Sunday yesterday, then it was a huge deal. Any normal Sunday morning, you would see me sprawled across my bed, snoozing away. Probably a bit of drool involved, I don’t know. Anything could be possible, except being awake. If hadn’t stayed in my room for most of the morning, other than to eat something Winona had laid out on the counter, my family must’ve barely recognized me. Actually awake on a Sunday morning.

I rolled over in my comfy bed, and saw the time flash on the clock on my bedside table. 5:12am. Ugh, I haven’t even started sleeping yet! Okay, that was a bit of an exaggeration. Maybe I’ve slept for a couple of hours, but I keep waking up every now and then. It’s really irritating, and this only happens when I have something in my mind that keeps me thinking all night.

I would be lying if I said it wasn’t the kiss that was bothering me. Scumbag brain not letting me sleep because of a stupid accident. Did I want it to be an accident? What am I thinking?! Of course I do! Did I? Ugh, see this is what I was talking about. I have officially reached the level of insanity where I’m having mental arguments with myself. The fact that it was my first kiss was probably adding to that, too.

As I promised, more to myself than to Zane, I will talk to him about it later. I looked back to my clock and saw that not even five minutes have passed yet. 5:15 am. School start in a few hours. No point in trying to go back to sleep now. I might as well finish the homework I was too lazy to finish yesterday. I was supposed to finish it during lunch or free period, but I had nothing better to do right now so might as well get it done now.

I finished at around 6 o’clock which was faster than I expected but I always felt that time goes by more slowly in the morning. I was starting to get a little hungry, so I decided to get ready so I could eat breakfast sooner.

“Hello my lovely bathroom!” I greeted as I walked in. I guess the insanity hasn’t really rubbed off yet. Only I could give you entertainment by letting you watch me have a civilized conversation with my bathroom. Yes people, only here.

I headed for the sink, brushed my teeth, before quickly getting in the shower. I took my time showering since I didn’t really get a lot of sleep last night and I still felt a bit drowsy. I let the warm water continue to hit my face hoping that it would wake me up a little bit more. When I felt that it wasn’t doing much anymore, I grabbed a towel, wrapped it around me, and hopped out.

Walking into my walk-in closet, I started thinking what I was going to wear today. I just stood there staring at my clothes, wearing nothing but a towel. It was getting pretty cold. Thankfully, I found something that finally caught my eye. A long-sleeved, yellow jacket, with two rows of big button and big lapels near the neck. I wore a tank top underneath it just so it wouldn’t feel so weird. I paired it with a black and blue, kind of checkered style, skirt that reached the middle of my thighs. It had stitchings here and there giving it a slight poofy texture near the hips. Last were the shoes. I decided to go with my black and silver Puma Espera III sandals, which mom bought for me. I’ve got to hand it to her, she knew my taste.

Now, fully dressed, I headed to my vanity and started drying my hair. After a few minutes, I decided that it was dry enough and pulled it all back into a ponytail. Make-up? Nah…I have Zane who uses them for me. She is kind of the only reason, besides parties, why they are even touched. Grabbing both my gym bag and my school bag, I headed downstairs for my stomach was making its demands heard.

I was the first one to the table. Winona was still cooking but I started munching on a muffin anyway. I was far too tired, and when I’m tired, I tend to be more of a pig than I already am.
