Raymond's Home
Dinner with the family
6:00pmSyaira was setting the table with her mom while giggling at something she was saying.
A couple minutes later Coby ran downstairs with socks now on his feet and sweatpants draping over his legs.
I caught a whiff of his scent smelling like fresh deodorant and dove soap.
He sat at the table opening a lid to one of the glass bowls filled with food.
Mrs.Abundai slapped his hand away before he hissed and rubbed it.
"Ma, I just took a shower-
"I don't care to know what you just took Cobyyy, you've probably touched a million things in your room with germs. Next thing you know our dear company here is going home sick." She exclaimed as I chuckled mentally at how much her dramatics matched Raymond's sometimes.
He sighed sitting back scolding before his dad entered the room, he sat up right away letting me know that his dad was a man of authority.
He was definitely a reflection of Coby I thought as he glanced over at me.
All of the strictness that I saw in his face quickly disappeared as he looked over at me smiling kindly.
"And who may this young lady be?" He questioned as I shook his outstretched hand.
"Hello sir, I'm Hakuna." He nodded his head still smiling before hitting Raymond lightly.
"Ray be a gentleman and guide the dear girl to her seat." I chuckled at Raymond's flushing face as he pulled out the seat in front of me.
"Thank you." I replied as he helped me push the seat in.
Right before he pulled out the chair to sit Syaira hopped in it staring straight forward like she didn't know what she just did.
Everybody at the table stared at her in amusement before her dad decided to break the little staring contest we all had with her.
"Syaira, stop messing with your brother." She got up off the chair immediately going to sit by Coby as her dad chuckled at her pouty face.
"Just like her mother." He added laughing as Mrs.Abundai slapped him playfully on the shoulder before sitting at the other end of the table.
Raymond was the last to sit down in the seat before Mr.Abundai spoke,
"Hakuna... do you mind?" He asked me courteously as everyone held hands looking at me.
"No sir, not at all." I said as Mrs.Abundai smiled softly.
I was a little nervous before I felt Raymond grip my hand which automatically took all of the feeling away.
"Dear lord, I ask that you bless over this food that we are about to receive and bless Mrs.Abundai's kind gracefulness for standing over the stove and preparing this beautiful meal. I also ask that you leave this kind family in your good graces for having me over for dinner. But most importantly I ask that you heal Raymond from his small cold so he can get back to his studies."
"In Gods name we pray-
"Amen." Everyone said altogether as I looked up to see the whole family smiling at me.
