Shivaay's Pov

The next day I kept looking for opportunities to talk with my family about me and her. But everyone didn't have the time.

At lunch, I felt ready. Everybody was waiting for dessert. Mali was sitting with Rudra, they were laughing about something.

"Guys, I have to say something", everybody dropped their work and looked at me. I felt nervous.

"Dad, Mom...I like this girl", I didn't dare to look at them. But I had to, I could see Mom smiling while Dad seemed a bit off.

"What? But we've already talked with Malika's parents about your engagement", he sounded stern.

"But Dad I can't marry her, I don't love her", I tried to argue but he scoffed.

"Who is it?", he asked me. I saw Mom placing her hand on his. He calmed down.

"Mr. Paresh's daughter", I looked at Dadi. She seemed speechless. While Om and Ru kept smirking. Mali just smiled.

"You mean Shirley", Dad now seemed a bit excited. But I shook my head in disagreement.

"So, you mean his adopted daughter, the one with issues?", he made Anika sound so degraded that it boiled my blood.

"Shakti, watch your language", my mom whispered. She didn't seem happy about what he said and so did I.

"First of all, it doesn't matter to me if she's adopted. And secondly, she went through a lot which left some scars on her but she sure as hell, isn't crazy", my tone held bitterness.

"What about Malika?", he asked. His gaze turned towards her, Mali opened her mouth to say something but then stopped. Mali, say something!

"I'm honestly fine with it, I never saw Shivaay as more than a friend", she shrugged. I smiled.

"Come on, Shakti", Mom squeezed his arm.

"Let the boy live", Dadi defended me. I loved these ladies!

"Okay, okay", he put his hands up and sighed. I felt like I was on cloud 9.

The next thing I knew, Om and Ru were trying to lift me up. It was crazy, because I was about to fall down. Mali hugged me tightly and pulled my cheeks. I glared at her.

"Billu weds Anika", they kept screaming that motto.

"Don't call me that. Plus, Anika doesn't know about this nickname", I scolded them but they rolled their eyes at me.

"Do you think she's free tomorrow, so that we can take your proposal to her", Dadi asked me.

"He could ask her", mom winked at me.

* don't blush, don't blush, don't blush *

"Yea, I'll probably call her soon", I rubbed my neck and they both laughed at me.

Leaving them was hard because everybody wanted to tease me, so when I reached my room, I made sure I locked it.

Dialing her phone, I kept waiting for her to pick up. After an eternity, she finally did.

"Hey, billu", I could feel her smiling on the other side.

"Oh, damn, when did they tell you that?", I rolled my eyes.

"They didn't, it's all over Instagram that Billu is getting married", she said.

"These guys are so dead", I screamed so that they could hear me. She laughed.

"Is uncle free tomorrow, we'd like to pay you a visit", I smirked.

"Sure", she sounded shy.

"Stop blushing", I told her and heard her giggling.

"I'm not", she tried to cover it.

"Yes, you're", I laughed.

"Shut up, I'm going. See you, tomorrow", she said and hung up. I pouted sadly.

Going through my wardrobe, I kept looking for something good to wear. I didn't want to look basic, I wanted to appear special.

Mali entered my room and noticed my dilemma. She shook her head. I looked at her confused.

"We're going shopping, Sir", she grabbed my hand and we left.

Once we were at the mall, we kept looking for something good. We went through a thousand shops and finally found it.

Mali looked at me and seemed proud of herself. I patted her hair, she punched me in the stomach. Something I wasn't expecting. Well, I guess, never touch a girl's hair!

"Buy me ice cream, idiot", she demanded and we sat down outside a cafeteria.

"Are you nervous?", she asked me. I furrowed my forehead.

"Meeting the dad, dumbass", she sounded annoyed.

"Of course", I gulped down the glass of water in front of me.

"Don't be", she smiled.

"Why not, though?", I looked at her confused. Mali looked at me annoyed, again.

"You, my guy, are the best any girl could have. You're partly smart, have a good job and an averagely good face", it sounded more like an insult than a compliment, but then again, this was Mali.

"This makes me feel more shit, but thanks", I told her. She looked at me and laughed. We both laughed about it.

I couldn't sleep the whole night.
