Noah stood, mouth slightly agape as he looked at Caius. The male, who lived as currently laying on his bed, watched him, hints of amusement and something else playing in his eyes.
"Um, what are you doing here?" The younger boy asked when he could finally stop his internal freak out, voice sounding slightly breathless.
At this, the blonde male smirked –he actually smirked, Noah didn't know kings smirked– and acted as though he were sitting up. "Oh sorry to disturb you, I could go if you'd–"
"No it's fine, stay." Noah hurriedly stated, his cheeks immediately flaming as he attempted to fix his mistake. "I–I mean, you can stay if you'd like."
"Alright then." The blonde king said with small smile, making Noah smile as well on reflex.
The two then fell into a nervous, yet surprisingly comfortable silence. Caius watching Noah, and Noah looking at the ground.
Surprisingly it was Noah who broke the silence.
"Um Caius, I was just wondering well, earlier Varinka mentioned something and I was just wondering about–" Noah didn't get a chance to finish his stuttering sentence, seeing as Caius decided to save what little dignity he had left.
"Yes I have heard what Varinka said." The blonde king spoke with a sigh as he ran his fingers through his long hair, a gesture that surprised Noah by the pure humanness of it.
"Well um, what did she mean exactly? Why would I be important to you?" Noah questioned, biting his lip as he did so.
Caius kept quiet for a moment, obviously trying to think of the words to say.
Honestly the male had never expected to find his mate, after all these centuries going without one. Caius just assumed his other half wasn't out there, and he was perfectly fine with it. Caius grew to hate the thought of having a mate, especially after seeing all the struggles that came with them from his brother's.
Caius thought himself above having a mate, and then he laid eyes on Noah. Noah, the boy who's heart seemed to pure and innocent. In that very moment it was as though some switch in his brain simply turned on, and Caius couldn't turn it back of. All of a sudden everything made sense, and yey everything also started to burn.
Caius had no idea how to act around Noah, and he hated that. He hated not being in completely control of everything. Caius had wanted to talk to Noah about being mates on his own terms, but of course Varinka had to ruin that.
When he had heard what the red headed vampire had done, it took all his willpower not to rip her head of her body, and if she wasn't Marcus' mate, he probably would have.
Now Caius was left feeling for the first time in his immortal life, nervous.
"Noah I um, I wanted to wait to explain this. Wanted to get to know each other first, so there's no pressure, no expectations. But it seems Varinka had to play her game, knowing I'd be mad at her because of it. What I'm trying to say is that we're mates."
It was like Noahs world stopped spinning on its axis. In hindsight he probably should have seen it coming. But in that moment, the thought had never even crossed his mind. After all, why would the beautiful rose eyed king be mated to him.
Noah stood, his mouth gaping at his mind tried to process what he'd just heard. After several minutes Noah managed to let out a slightly pathetic, "Oh."
"Listen I know this is a lot to take in, but I don't have any expectations, this is, well this is just as new for you as it is for me."
The sight of Caius slightly uncomfortable made Noah relax slightly, because he knew he wasn't freaking out for nothing.
After another few minutes of silence Caius bid Noah a goodnight, leaving the flower boy to his thoughts.
Soon enough Noah found himself smiling, a light blush covering his cheeks.
He was mated to Caius Volturi, and wasn't upset about it.
