This is a Treebros oneshot and it's one of my favorites that I've thought of.

The small town of Sherwood Ohio had gained a new family to its ranks today. The Murphy's had just moved into a big home on the small street of Westerburg. Evan Hansen who was five years old at the time and had waited excitedly watching the cool trucks unload their precious cargo onto the lawn. "Whatcha looking at?" A new voice from behind Evan said. He spun around and saw a new kid behind him. "I'm watching the trucks! They're soooo cool. Whats your name? I'm Evan, I live in the blue house that way." Evan threw his arm over towards a small blue house at the end of the road. "My names Connor! I live there!" Connor pointed towards the house that Evan had been staring at a few seconds ago. "And, I have a wiggly tooth," Connor opened his mouth and used his tongue to show Evan his tooth. Evan grabbed his face and pulled him closer so he could examine the almost falling out tooth.
"Wow that's so cool! Can we be friends?" Connor nodded vigorously and Evan dragged him to his house to meet his mom. "Mommy mommy look I made a friend and he was a loose tooth." Heidi looked down from her book and smiled at the beaming children. "That's great honey whats your name sweetheart?" "My names Connor look at my wiggly tooth!" Connor showed off his tooth to Heidi who praised him. "Mommy I'm gonna show him my tree house ok!" And with that the two boys ran outside towards Evans backyard thus beginning an amazing friendship between the two.
Age six
"And then we went to the forest to try and find a dragon!" The Murphys were having their regular dinner at the table with Connor gushing about all the things he did with his amazing friend Evan today. "Did you guys catch one?" His little sister asked obviously looking up to her big brother. "No but we did catch a lizard! His names Newt and he lives in the tree house." Before Connor could say anything else there was a knock at the door. Cynthia got up to check it and disappeared into the next room. "Oh hi Evan. Sweetie whats wrong?" At the word Evan Connor shot up and dashed towards the door and was met halfway by a bawling Evan.
"Ev whats wrong," Connor said enveloping his taller friend in a hug. Evan only cried harder. "Come on lets go," Connor grabbed Evans hand and dragged him towards their favorite park down the street. They both took seats on the swings that they had played on just 4 hours before. "Evy whats wrong," connor asked concern dripping from his voice. "H-he ye-yelled at h-her and th-then he l-left." "Who yelled at who?" "M-my daddy yelled at Mommy a-and he-he's gone!" Connor hugged his friend which was awkward because of the two chains between them. "It's ok he'll come back. And if he doesn't you have me! I'll never leave you ok." Evan leaned into his friends face and gave him a quick kiss, "I love you Connor." It was something his mom would do to him whenever he felt sad. "I love you too Evan."

Evans dad had left two months ago and now it was time for Connor to leave. His dad had gotten a job somewhere in Mississippi and they all had to move. "But I don't wanna go! I wanna stay here with Evan!" Connor was hugging Evan close and screaming at his mom was trying to get him to leave. Both boys were crying profusely and clutching each other. "Come on Connor we have waited long enough its time to go." Cynthia tried to grab Connors arm but he dodged and ran away Evan following close behind.
They ran up into Evans tree house and pulled up the rope ladder. "Condon't you think that you should...go-" "No! I promised I wouldn't leave and I'm not going to! Even if I have to sit here forever and ever!" Evan grabbed Connor and held him close. "It's gonna be ok. We can still talk on the phone! and we can video chat whenever we want!" "B-but it won't be the same. I wanna be with you! I wanna go to school together and play with you!" "We can visit each other! And one day we'll move in together and we'll live together forever!" Connor looked up at Evan and thought for a minute, "I promise.....I promise that I'll find you someday." It was sudden but it was enough to get the kids out of tree house and meet back up with Cynthia. And there he went. Connor was gone. It felt like there was a part of Evan missing. He didn't talk or eat until Connor called and told him that it wasn't good that he didn't eat anymore. After that he would only eat a few bites at each meal and talked very slightly with his mom and Connor only.
