Evan and I stood outside of my house holding hands. We came out to his mom the other day and now it was my turn. Evan spoke up after a couple minutes of standing, "A-are you sure about this?" I turned to Evan who looked terrified, "yeah. I mean we have to do it at some point right?" He nodded and I gave his hand a comforting squeeze.

I let go of his hand and walked towards the door taking a deep breath before opening it. My mom and dad were sitting on the couch and watching some news channel. Zoe was sitting behind them doing homework at a table. She already knew about us and our plan so she knew what was up when we walked in. "Hey I'm gonna go work upstairs see you guys later. She grabbed her stuff and ran past me whispering "good luck." I gave her a nod and smiled.

"Oh honey I didn't notice you walked in. Hello Evan," Evan smiled and wave at my mom who was looking at us. My dad gave a small wave before looking back at the TV. "Uh I uh I need to talk to you guys about something really quick if you don't mind?" I asked quickly my dad looked back at us and nodded turning of the TV.

"Is it ok if we sit at the table," I said gesturing towards the kitchen with my thumb and my parents followed Evan and I inside. we took our seats across from each other. They gave me a look that said 'just get it started already' and I looked to Evan for help. He gave me a small smile and squeezed my knee from under the table.

"Ok so this is really serious to me and I would appreciate if you took it seriously as well." My parents just nodded, "ok first things first im-im," I looked back at Evan. He smiled and I was filled with a new confidence. "Im gay and im dating Evan," I rushed it out as fast as I could and winced as I waited for a reaction.

My mom was the first to speak, "honey you know I don't agree with gays but I love you and will sup-"

"Evan leave," it was my dad, "w-what?" Evan asked and I grabbed his hand willing him to stay with me. "I need to talk to my son alone Evan. Please leave."

"N-no!" Evan was raising his voice slightly probably to sound menacing. It didn't work. "Fine Connor may I speak to you in the other room please." I shakily stand up and follow him out of the room ignoring Evans worried face.

Once we got outside the kitchen my dad shut the door and spoke. "Tell Evan you guys are breaking up." "Wait what no!" "Connor don't argue with me on this! You will go in there and break up with that boy and you will tell him that you don't want to see him ever again." "No! I love Evan and I would never-" I was cut off by my dad shoving me backwards. I immediately fell and hit my head on the edge of a table.

"I always knew you were a failure but I never thought you'd sink this far." I looked up at my dad tears filling my eyes. He had this evil glint in his eye that I had never seen before. He started to walk towards me and I squeezed my eyes shut. I waited for the pain to come...But it never did. Instead all I heard was the thunk of something hitting the wall and a groan of pain. I opened my eyes and couldn't believe what I saw.

Evan stood there with my father's shirt in his fists and shoving him into the wall. "DONT YOU DARE TALK TO HIM LIKE THAT!" He screamed forcing my dad forward and shoving him back into the wall. "He is the best thing in this life and I swear to god if you ever even think of doing anything like that again it'll be the last thing you do.

Evan shoved my dad into the wall one more time before he turned to me. "Pack your shit we're leaving," I couldn't move though. I had never seen Evan like this. His adorable stutter was gone and was replaced by a meaning tone that I didn't think he would ever be able to pull off. Instead of being slouched like he usually was he stood straight and rigid with an aura of rage around him. He was no longer my adorable boyfriend who would reach out to me as he slept he was now absolutely pissed and to be honest. I was terrified.

"Please. Connor grab your stuff. Let's leave. Please," Evan softened and pleaded with me. Finally I stood up and scurried up the stairs. Halfway up I nearly tripped on my sister who had been watching the entire ordeal. "what the fuck was that!" She whisper yelled, "I don't know but," I looked back at Evan who was scolding my dad and probably placing death threats, "I have the best boyfriend ever."
