It's a dark and mysterious night. Wind whips through the trees, shaking them, bending them, almost snapping them. The moon is blotted out of the sky by dark storm clouds. Everyone had already long since locked themselves in their houses and bolted their doors, thinking that the mighty Thor had frowned upon them and was now punishing them. The mountainside is drenched with snow and even more piecing snowflakes are on their way down, cutting into the skin like frozen daggers. No one even knew what was happening...

Oh, who am I even kidding? I don't like all this blah blah blah and boring stuff. I'm Puffnut, Puffnut Thorston. It's all sunshine and rainbows for me. Well, not exactly. More like... how do I put it... Explosives and Rainbows. Yah, that sounds about right. Anyway, ignore that first paragraph.

I myself have already forgotten what I've written.

Ah! Who are you?!

Just kidding, I don't forget that quickly.

But really, who are you and why are you here?

Anyway, here's my version of what happened...

It was a bright and sunny day, except for the scary-looking clouds blotting out the sun and the sharp snow coming down and the wind buffeting through my hair. Other than that, life is pretty normal and cheery. I see that people have shut themselves in their houses as I skip around the town. I slip half the time from the slick ground and half the time from the strong winds, but I continue along, never letting my spirits dampen. I have no idea what is happening, but then again, I almost never do...

See? That's more like it. So much happier. It's besides the point that Thor could kill us all. Or that tomorrow I am going to have a lot of bruises. Or that I was the only one not shaking in my boots...

"Puffnut!" shouts my mother, Ilga from the door of our house. "Get in here now!" She looks around a little fearfully before beckoning me in.

I groan. "Fine." I go inside, slightly droopy. Noticing that I am hunching, I straighten, lift my chin, and put a smile on my face. I'm sure my light blue eyes are shining with joy right now, even if I am a little upset about having to go inside. I am definitely an outdoorsy person, preferring even the harsh weather outside to the gloomy home inside. Especially with my dad gone. Everything in our house reminds me of him...

No, no, NO!

Think happy thoughts!...

I shake my head and clear my mind, focusing instead on the happy things...

At least I'm out of that storm. And at least I still have my mom. Man, I would be getting frostbite right now if not for her...

I had noticed the warmth the instant I walked in the room, and I am grateful for it. Of course, I prefer the cold, but sometimes it's just too cold. I sigh. My cousins Ruff and Tuff wouldn't mind the cold. In fact, they would relish the pain it brought them. Well, Ruffnut might mind the cold. But only because she would lose the ability to punch Tuffnut and cause him pain. A smile spreads across my face again as I skip along to my room.

Our house is pretty small, as I only live with my mom. I did have a twin brother, but he died at birth. I reach my room fairly quickly. My door is splattered with paint from when I decided to make an art project out of it when I was five. Apparently, the paint was permanent, so ever since then, I've had a multicolored door. At least it makes it easier to find my room in this huge house. Sarcasm. That was sarcasm.
