By TidalClawsCloudracer's POV
Cloudracer had basked in the sun the whole of yesterday, only moving when she wanted to catch fish. Her scales were warm and she was relatively happy, despite everything that had happened recently. Now, at the moment, she was curled into a dark black ball at the back if the small cave that she had inhabited. It was cool in the cave and the floor was hard, but she paid no attention.
There had been no evidence that the Red Death was still around and it lifted Cloudracer's spirits. Maybe it's dead. Maybe the other dragons rebelled against it.. she wondered with a tilt of her head. Then, she shook the thought away. It won't be that easy to kill, this one is different from the last Queen. Its more clever and bigger and stronger. There was suddenly a noise from outside of the cave and her ears perked. That sounds like a dragon roar.. and voices?
She inched out of the cave she was in and looked up to see a Hotburble, a Rumblehorn, and a Monstrous Nightmare flying together in a V formation. But the strange thing was, there were vikings riding them! On the Rumblehorn was a huge viking with flowing red hair and on the Hotburble was one with blond hair, a peg leg, and a hook for a hand. And lastly on the Monstrous Nightmare was.. the girl that had captured and saved her the night of the attack! She was just right there!
The first thought that came into her mind was I better run, but she fought back the urge to bolt away and instead silently flew up into the air. Her piercing ice blue eyes were hooked onto the three dragons as they flew, unaware of her existence.
Cloudracer didn't care about the other two vikings. Her real target was the blonde haired girl. The night where she had been netted was strange because even though it was the girl's fault, Cloudracer could barely find herself mad at her. It was like they had a connection of some sort. She thought about this for a while but suddenly jumped when the girl looked back.
Cloudracer flew as fast a lightning (or at least that's what she thought) into the cloud and let out a sigh. Now was not the time to be spotted. Her mind drifted back to her, but she quickly pushed away the thought of having a bond. The fact that she had even had that on her mind made her sick. Yet, she kept following the trio.
The journey seemed to stretch on for ages with them flying over the dark blue sea. They never took a rest and never looked back again. So Cloudracer had been pretty safe. They were also the only dragons in the sky. As they flew on, Cloudracer thought that she could just make out the small and fuzzy shape of a foresty island. I have never been here before. I wonder what dragons live here..
They advanced slowly to the island and Cloudracer could feel her tatrered wings drooping just the slightest bit. It was beginning to darken in the sky, which gave her the advantage. She wouldn't have to hide in the clouds anymore. Her solid black scales would blend in with the night.
"We're almost there!" The lead viking shouted and the blond haired girl sat up on her Monstrous Nightmare with a happy smile plastered on her face. From where Cloudracer was flying she could make out some if the details in the island. It was covered in trees of all sorts and sizes. There were also a series of buildings spread out across one end if the isalnd. Each of the buildings were unique in their own ways, but Cloudracer didn't care. She had to find somewhere she could hide and not be found.
She pulled ahead of the group and flew above the clouds once more. And when she thought that she was safe, she dipped down from the powdery fluff and landed softly on the forest mulch. She didn't even disturb a leaf as she stepped in between each tall tree, her talons as light as a feather.
Then, she stopped at a large pile of boulders who had been worn down over the years and circled them. She scanned them up and down, looking for an area that she could hide in, but there was none.
So, she lifted off of the ground and instead flew to the back of the island. The viking's little village thing was on the opposite side of the island now bit then again, the island was small compared to others. She scouted along the ground looking for someplace to stay. She knew that she was in plain sight, but the Vikings probably didn't come here that often.
Cloudjumper had finally found a place to stay. It was under a low rock hang in a small ravine like split in the ground. She was somewhat satisfied at her little hiding place and curled up in a ball under the darkening sky--
Cloudracer woke with a start as the frightened roar of a dragon in danger pierced the air. I have to help it! She thought frantically as she launched herself into the warm, late morning air. The dragon screeched again and she could just see it through the dense foliage. It was a Speed Stinger. She flew closer to get a better look and saw that it was surrounded in bulky men that held some sort of weapon that she had never seen before.
And without thinking, She tilted her angle and tucked in her wings, speeding downwards with a shrill whistle and blasted the ground next to the hunters. They all looked up in surprise but then a smirk crossed their face as she landed defensively next to the Speed Stinger. It confused her. Shouldn't they be afraid of me?
As she held off the dragon hunters, it gave the Speed Stinger just enough time to escape. Cloudracer was left alone with the circle of hunters and a sudden wave of fear washed over her. "Thanks for that!" She roared at the evading dragon that she had saved. It never looked back and never responded. She turned back to the group of hunters, who were now drawing out swords and that weapon that resembled a bent stick with a string connecting the ends.
The one time she had encountered vikings they had used swords and nothing else. She snapped back to reality as more voices were approaching and to her surprise, the wing beats of dragons. Her fear increased and she desperately looked for the best route of escape. They can't get me when I fly! She thought frantically and she rose her wings. Why didn't I see that before?
But before she could even get a foot off the ground there was the whiz of a projectile and she could feel something stab into her side. Nothing happened at first as she rose higher but as she progressed, it was if she couldn't move her wings anymore and she couldn't catch herself as she fell the few feet that she had traveled back onto the ground. The extra voices and wing beats were getting louder and her vision was blurring.
Whatever had hit must have been edged in poison! She thought with rage as she forced her eyes to focus and she snapped at one of the hunters and shot a plasma blast at another before she could barely see anymore. Then, a blur of black and the whistle only another Night Fury could make pierced the air. It was the last thing she saw before everything was black and she felt as though she were falling into an endless hole of blackness.
