Emily looks beyond devastated. I gently hug her. I feel so helpless. The specialist says there could be some improvement over the next few days but I think Em has lost hope.

The doctor gives her a load of eye drops and instructions on how and when to use them.

We make our way outside and back to my car. I help her in and drive her home.

I carry her up to her bed when we get there. She's too upset to walk.

I gently lay her down and tell her I'm going to call her parents.

When I've done that, I call the guys and tell them. Mike is devastated too, having known her since day one.

I lie on her bed with her, holding her to my chest while she cries herself to sleep. I cry with her. This has broken my heart, seeing her like this.

I fall asleep after a while and we stay like that all day and most of the evening.

We are woken up by her mum knocking on the door.

She comes in and pulls Em to her in a big hug. Em hasn't opened her eyes this time. Her mum begs her to but she gently shakes her head and lies back down.
