I woke up to the banging of pots and pans downstairs, Maria must have been up making something.
I was so comfortable I didn’t want to move. I felt like I fit perfectly in Nash’s arm. He was still sound asleep so I just studied him. I wanted to memorize exactly how he looked; I had a bad feeling something was going to happen and we wouldn’t see each other again.
I ran my fingers gently along his jawline which woke him up. He blinked his eyes a couple of times and then focused his gaze on me. My heart fluttered in my chest. I wanted to close the small gap between us and kiss, but the way he was looking at me told me not to ruin the moment.
He pulled back slightly and stretched, giving me a good look at his toned body as the muscles moved under his skin. I was about ready to drool.
I quickly got out of bed and went into the bathroom before I just flat out pounced on him. I shut the door and leaned against it, needing a moment to catch my breath.
I got dressed and then went back into our room, Nash was nowhere to be found so I decided to go downstairs and get some food.
As I was coming down the stairs I heard two female voices, who the hell was that? I rounded the corner and nearly threw up in shock. There was my mom cooking bacon and smiling.
“M-mom?” I stuttered out. She dropped the fork and ran over and pulled me into a hug.
I started sobbing and clenched onto her for dear life, I had missed her so much.
“Shh, Violet, shh, it’s ok.” She ran her hands gently through my hair like she used to do when I was little. “Everything’s going to be ok from now on, I promise.”
I pulled away slightly and looked at her, “You promise?” I ask my voice shaky and tears rolling down my face.
She wiped them away with her thumb and nodded, “I promise.” With everything inside of me I wanted to believe her. I wanted something to go right for once. So, even if it was a mistake, I believed her. “Come on, let’s get something to eat.” We disentangled ourselves and grabbed some food.
I sat down at the table next to my mom. Seeing her actually eat brought a smile to my face.
I looked up and saw that Nash was staring at me. I smiled at him, but he just looked away.
After we finished eating my mom and I packed up all my stuff and moved it back home. It was so good to be back in my room, the first thing I did was open up my window.
However, I was shocked when I saw that Nash had closed his and pulled the shades down.
I numbly sat down on my bed and wondered what the fuck just happened?
My mom was back and things were starting to look up, but this simple gesture seemed to be the most painful to happen to me yet.
