The next morning in the band room, his friends teased him about the romance sparking with this girl. Jeffrey ignored them and confirmed that there was nothing going on and that their relationship was strictly professional.
"Huh, professional." Carl pointed a fork at him. "My ass. Why don't you tell her already?"
"How's the song going? Is it done yet?" Stephen leaned out of curiosity as he reads some messages on his phone.
Jeffrey dropped his sandwich saying. "Yep, it's done. I've already made the arrangement. I guess, it's earlier than I expected."
"So we're finished right?" Chester added. "It's already February 4. How many days till founders week?"
"Twelve days." Carl answered. "Our song is finished to. Are we ready for a recording session?
"Of course we are." Jeffrey replied. "Now all we need is to save money." Jeffrey looked at his wallet and counted how much their band savings was. "800 pesos." He sighed. "You know, we could have already reached a thousand if you'd only save money everyday."
"Hey, the studio guy told me that maybe we could record the song on the phone and send it to him so that he could listen to it already." Stephen told the group. "Maybe we should do that now."
"By the way." Chester faced at Jeffrey. "Where's Danna?" I thought she would come see us today.
"Maybe she's busy." Stephen replied.
"Anything you know Jeff?" Carl asked.
Jeffrey looked away and Carl noticed the suspicious behavior. He felt that something happened between them yesterday when they were alone. "Jeff?" He asked.
Jeffrey looked up and ignored the question, "Yea Steph. Why don't we record that now." He got his guitar and prepared his phone to record. Carl still suspects that something really happened yesterday with the two of them. The band prepared their respective instruments and on Stephen's count, they played the song. They tried recording the song more than one time so that they may choose the best recording.
After their 7th recording, Jeffrey moved the recordings in one folder and named the file to 'Recordings'. They then chose the best one and shared it with the band, then Stephen sent the recording to the owner of the studio. They took a break and Carl called Jeffrey to join him outside.
"So, what happened yesterday?" Carl asks as he sits on the stairs.
"Nothing really Carl trust me.
"If you say so."
Three days had passed and there was still no sign of Danna showing up in the band room. Jeffrey tried to contact her through chat but there was no reply coming from her. They were worried and started asking Jeffrey questions about her.
"Do you know anything Jeff? We hadn't had a decent practice for four days now." Chester complained.
"Yeah." Stephen added. "We only got nine days left and if she still doesn't show up.." He scratches his head.
"Maybe it's time you tell us what really happened on that day Jeff?" Carl implied making the others look at Jeff with a curios face.
"What happened between the both of you Jeff?" Chester added.
Jeffrey couldn't say anything when his friends started looking at him suspiciously. He wanted to say it but he felt pain in his heart like bass drums being hit hard. He takes a series of deep breaths. Carl notices the unusual behavior and asks the others to stop staring at him.
Jeffrey stood up and said, "I'll try to find out what happened to her." He walks out of the room leaving the three of them behind. Carl sat on a chair and covered his face.
Jeffrey went to Danna's classroom on the 1st floor. He arrived and saw her Grade 9 friend-Macy who was Danna's classmate inside the room. He calls for her and asks her, "Do you know where Danna is?"
"Danna? You don't know?" She asks as if it was already clear.
Jeffrey looks worried and asks, "Know what?"
"She hasn't been present for three days now. No one knows the reason but she is a sickly girl." She informs him. "Maybe she'll be back tomorrow?"
"I wan't to know where she lives."
"Why?"
"Just tell me Mace." He begs her. "Please!"
"One hundred."
"What ?!"
"Take it or leave it." The girl cocked an eyebrow at him.
"You've got to be kidding, Mace." Jeffrey reached his back pocket and opened his wallet. He took out a hundred dollar bill and handed it to her. "There! Now, will you tell me her address?"
"Not so fast, Romeo." Macy took the bill from his hands and placed it on her pretty pink purse. "I want to know why you're so into her."
"Who? Dana?" Jeffrey asked. "God, Macy you're making this uncomfortable how many times do I have to tell you that she's just a friend—
"116th Canberra road."
"What?" Jeffrey looked at her.
"Are you deaf or do I have to spell out every word that comes from my mouth?"
Jeffrey face palmed himself. This was getting nowhere, she was being a diva again.
"I said 116th Canberra road!" She exclaimed. "Now, if you'll excuse me." She walked past Jeffrey with a smirk on her face. "I've got some money to catch." She winked at him then strolled down before he could make sense on what he was saying.
