Jeffrey road a tricycle to the street where Macy told her, it was far but he knew of this place. It was where he studied in kindergarten. When he arrived he looked around his surroundings. Big houses surrounds the environment. The driver said to take a sharp left turn and he'll find the house he was looking for. Jeffrey then looked back, a vivid flash came before him.
Alas, Jeffrey found the right house. He was standing in front of it, with a smile on his face. It was big enough. He could get a glimpse of the balcony and the lights flickering on. That's when he saw a familiar shadow come pass the balcony towards the room.
Dana.
He started to open the doorknob but was met with an unfaithful event that caught him off track. There was a big dog sleeping on the front porch. "Shit!" Jeffrey whispered.
How can he get past the front door without his foot setting foot on the stairs without the dog noticing him?! Suddenly, Jeffrey turned and saw a big tree linking towards the balcony. His eyes traveled up, it was not far. He just had to jump when he reaches the near end.
Jeffrey started to to throw his bag up. At first, it was a failed attempt. It made a loud noise then hit the ground. Good thing it didn't wake the dog up. Next one was successful enough. It hit the balcony perfectly and then started Jeffrey to climbed up to the tree.
"Oh god." Jeffrey felt his body go down as he grabbed the branches just in time for him to dangle. He then raised his right foot and with a big move. He reached for the other branch and found himself into the top of the other one until his foot could be set in the right weight. He slowly moved then climbed upon the targeted branch slowly and slowly. He felt the branch's weight go down and soon enough Jeffrey jumped as soon as he could fall over making a loud thump as he groaned.
The lights started to flicker on and Jeffrey started to stand up. The doors opened and revealed the girl she thought was Dana with a shocked expression on her face.
"Jeffrey? What are you doing here?!" She was shocked.
"You're not Dana." Jeffrey was confused. "How did you know my name?"
The girl she saw looked like Dana.
"I'm her sister. I knew you when you were both in kindergarten and she keeps talking about you up until now." She makes a sad expression. "About Danna.."
"What about her?" Jeffrey seemed worried. Danna's sister walked towards the door and asks Jeffrey to come inside. She started walking and Jeffrey follows her.
"I don't think you know this but ever since she was a child, she was always sickly." She said. "She doesn't want to go to the hospital, but we've got a family doctor who keeps visiting her and checking her from time to time." She stops in front of a door. "This is her room. If you want to you could go inside and check on her."
"Thank you miss." Jeffrey sounded sad.
Danna's sister smiled and said, "Dennise." She walks away and leaves Jeffrey in front of the door.
Jeffrey cleared his throat and knocks on the door. "Danna? It's me Jeffrey. Can I come in?" No one answers him so he twisted the knob and found out that the door was open. When he went inside, he saw Danna laying on the bed looking outside the window.
She turns her head to Jeffrey and gives him a weak smile. "Hi Jeff." She was thin and pail, a dextrose on her hand and a gloomy look.
"How are you? What happened?" Jeffrey asked.
"I'm fine Jeff." She said. "This is common for me whenever I get stressed out. I'll be back at school tomorrow."
"You sure you're okay?" Jeffrey confirms.
Danna doesn't answer his question and once more looks at the window. Jeffrey sat beside Danna and held her hand.
"I'm sorry." He pleaded as he places his head on her chest.
Tears fell from Danna's eyes as she hugs Jeffrey tightly. "I've waited for you to notice Jeff. Why didn't you notice?" She said as she cries. Jeffrey didn't say anything. "You left me without saying a word for twelve years and the first time we meet again, you didn't remember me? Was I really that unimportant to you?" She cries and cries and Jeffrey remained silent. "Jeffrey!! Answer me please" She begged.
"it's not like that Danna. I've always known you deep inside." He finally answers. "It was just that, you were different from before."
"You promised me that you'd never leave me! But what did you do?" She shouted and the tears don't stop from falling.
"I'm not making any excuses Dan. But, I'm very sorry for what I've done. I really am."
Danna continues crying and does not respond to Jeffrey's words.
"Do you want to know the reason why I created the band Danna?" Jeffrey asks. Danna nodded but doesn't say a thing.
"There are just some people you want to meet again before you regret everything." He explained. Danna seemed confused at what he meant when he said regret.
"I've done everything I could to find you. In social media and others. Only now did that I realized that I was searching for the wrong name and wrong looks." He frowns. "I created the band so that when I get popular, I would easily be able to request to find a person I cared about."
"What do you mean Jeff?" Danna asks.
"Truth is that, I don't have much time left in this world. So I did all I could do to find you. But you found me first and I didn't really thought that it was you." Jeffrey explains to Danna who sat down on her bed. "When you arrived on January, Carl already told me to talk to you and clarify if you were really the one I was searching for. I didn't because I didn't believe it was you until I saw our picture in your music book."
"So we were both looking for each other?" Danna asks. "What do you mean you don't have much time left in this world?"
"I'm dying Danna." He clarifies. "And I never would have found you if you were not looking for me."
Tears started falling again from Danna's eyes. "The time when we'll finally be together would also be the time that you'll leave again?" She hits Jeffrey on the shoulders. "Jeffrey!! Why?? Why would you leave me again?"
"There's no cure from the disease I have. All I know is that my final breath would be set on the 1st of March. And starting today, I would do my very best to make you the happiest" He smiles with a sad expression. He kneels down in front of Danna while holding her hand and said, "Danna, I won't ask you to be my girlfriend because that would only satisfy my selfishness. I-"
"I don't care!" Danna screamed and stood from her bed. "Ask me to be your girlfriend Jeff. That's all I'll ever want from you. Even if it's just for a short while. I don't care. I want to be yours."
Jeffrey's eyes widened and realized how much pain Danna had went through just to find him. He looks at Danna in the eyes as she cries. He stood up and hugs her. "Fine. Will you be my girlfriend Danna?"
"Yes."
