So hey guys. Since you know Ebony's gonna be transferred to Singapore I think it's best you know what even goes on in that country (language, food, lifestyle etc).
Basically the rest of my book will happen in Singapore where I live cause my second OC is based there. Our country's slang is known as Singlish and I'm probably gonna write more of it in the coming chapters.
These are the ones I know/understand
1. "You siao ah??" = "Are you crazy??" 2. "Really ah?" = "Is that true?" 3. "Eh siam." = "Eh go away." 4. "Bodoh." = "Stupid." 5. Chope = the act of using a tissue packet to reserve a table 6. "Or horh..." = "You're in trouble now." 7. Kiasu = being highly concerned about being better than anyone 8. "Walao..." = mostly used when you're disappointed/frustrated
There'll be many others I put in the following chapters so if you don't understand, you can tell me. I'll try to explain it.
The food is diverse in Singapore due to the many races which live together. I don't really wanna list them down cause I might make you hungry. Believe me I don't even eat some of them half the time.
Lifestyle wise, we're a pretty fast-paced country and we're constantly stressing about work or school. Our education is considered one of the best in the world.
Our education system goes like this: Preschool -> Primary school (6 years) -> Secondary school (4/5 years depending on your stream) -> Tertiary education (junior college/polytechnic) -> University. At the final year of primary school, students take the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) to determine the secondary school they'll go to next. At secondary 4 and 5, students take the GCE 'O' Level exams which determines which form of tertiary education you'll go to.
So yeah that's it. Idk if you've read a book which involves a country like SG before but this might be the first one you'd read about it. I don't even know what goes on in America so that's why my knowledge about it is shit. Hopefully I write a lot more for the next few chapters of this book.
