~Monday~

Now that I thought of it, I really dreaded going back to school, even if I've been gone for like 2 weeks. I packed my bag on Sunday night but all I put in there was just one of my hoodies and a book from the library. Kyran was as unenthusiastic as me; he's been groaning about how he wanted to skip school for the day but he couldn't since he's not that kind of guy. I had to literally drag Kyran out of the orphanage and onto the sidewalk.

"Why do we even need to go to school?" He asked as he fixed his hair.

"Because our parents force us to. Look, I know it may seem like hell to the both of us but it's for our own good. I used to love going to school just to see my best friend. I miss her so much..."

I had no idea how those memories were still with me or why my brain just decided to hit me with the idea of not seeing Sammi again. I started to tear up but I turned away so Kyran wouldn't see. I inhaled deeply but shakily and quickly wiped the tears away. I didn't realise Kyran was about a few metres away from me and hastily caught up with him.

"No wonder I felt nobody beside me. What happened?" He asked with concern.

"Oh, nothing. Just remembered someone who'd be missing me right now."

"I understand. But you should still in contact with them at least."

"Y-yeah..."

"We better hurry, Ebony. School's startin' in 15 minutes," he stated as he consulted his phone.

"Right."

~School~

The school wasn't that bad at least. The only thing I was worried about was the students; they could pick on me or spread stupid rumours about me. I stuck close to Kyran as we made our way to our first class of the day, English.

Apparently, because I was new, I had to introduce myself. It's kinda stupid since I was gonna be around for at least a month before the winter break. I got out of my seat beside Kyran and stood in front of the class, shoving hands into my pockets.

"Class, this is our new student," our teacher, Mr Flores, announced. I gave a shy smile and did a small wave.

"Can you introduce yourself to the class?" He asked. I nodded my head and parted my fringe slightly.

"So...um," I started nervously, "Hi, my name is...Ebony, Ebony Brooks and I was transferred here from Minnesota." I didn't wanna tell anyone I was a runaway so I stuck with Kyran's idea to say I was a transfer student.

My eyes wandered around nervously as I took all their faces in. Some were looking at me in confusion, annoyance or even strangely, adoration. I spied a girl, a brunette wearing a pair of black glasses, looking at me as her hand was busily doodling something on her notebook. I smiled at her, making her blush so much until her cheeks were a brilliant red. I covered my mouth and chuckled as she quickly bowed her head to hide her face. There was also another girl with blonde hair sitting at the back of the room. She rested her head on her hands when I met eye contact with her and looked creepily into my eyes. I brushed it off and spoke again.

"So yeah, I'll be with you guys from now on," I continued, "Please put up with me for the time being."

I returned to my place and rested my head on the table after Mr Flores started the lesson.

Cassidy's POV

It's just another boring week at school: similar faces, similar personalities and a lot of homework. I didn't really wanna go to school anymore, not when that bitch, Megan kept stepping all over me like a 'Welcome' mat and bringing me down like I was nothing. I didn't do anything to her...maybe it's her way of saying I wasn't worth anyone's time.
