"Aren't you going to eat?" Dean asked.

Castiel shook his head, "As an angel, I don't need food to survive, and if I do chose to eat, I can taste every molecule of the food. It takes the enjoyment out of eating." Dean stared at the angel blankly, but nodded. Sam seemed to understand what he was talking about, but was too involved with his laptop to actually acknowledge anyone.

Soon, Dean had his burger and fries finished. "Are you sure everything went okay in Heaven? You seem quiet."

"I told you, Dean, everything's fine", Cass lied.

"Okay, okay. You don't need to get defensive, I just want us to have an open relationship, that's all."

Castiel's face softened, "I do, too."

Dean smiled and reached out for Castiel's hand. He looked up into Dean's green eyes and immediately smiled at him. Those eyes would always be his weakness. "Did they want you to save me?" His fingers intertwined Cass'

"They?"

"Upstairs, whoever they are, did they want you to save me?"

"No, they didn't. I rebelled and saved you, because I know what you and Sam mean to this world. You've saved so many people."

"Thank you." Castiel squeezed Dean's hand lightly to say it was worth it. Dean looked at him for a second before saying, "Sam and I gotta go finish up researching this case. You okay staying here?"

"Sure. Go save the world, again" Castiel said. There was a smile on his face and his eyes sparkled with love. He stood up with Dean and enveloped the hunter in a hug. "Don't try to get hurt, though, okay?" Castiel whispered.

"Even if I do, I know you'll save me", Dean whispered back. Castiel turned his head and kissed Dean's cheek before they pulled apart. Dean looked at Sam, who closed the lid of the laptop and followed Dean back out to the Impala. Castiel watched them drive away from the doorway of the motel.

Castiel found himself back in front of Naomi's desk. "Have you severed your ties with the Winchesters, yet?" she asked in a stern voice. Castiel stayed silent. Naomi's eyes flashed with rage. "Either you sever your ties with the Winchesters, or we do it for you, one way or another", she threatened angrily before flashing Castiel back to Earth.
