Here's another short update after such a long wait.
Bella just sat there baffled as her "dearest cousin sister" and Caius announced the date for their wedding. They looked happier than Edward and her. Not that she would admit it aloud.
She looked at them as Mia sat practically glued to Caius. The way Caius breathed in her scent every now and then didn't go unnoticed by her. She looked there intertwined hands in Mia's lap. Why couldn't her relationship be like that? Caius was a monster who fed on humans. Her Edward didn't even do that. How could Caius control his thirst and not Edward?
Her eyes widened as Aro announced that almost every vampire will be attending the wedding. Even the Romans, who Mia had apparently charmed into an alliance. Of course! Perfect little Mia charmed the enemies. And now they're all a big happy family. Bella thought bitterly.
But what actually made her think through things again was Edward's next question. "But Bella is human! How are we supposed to take a human in a castle full of vampires?"
Aro chuckled as if Edward had just cracked a very pleasant joke. Which, Bella now thought, in their eyes, he did.
"Edward! That's it, isn't it! You aren't! Unless of course, you want one of our guest to have a particularly sweet meal at the wedding." He said still laughing.
"The wedding is in a couple of months!" Edward said.
"I'm aware." Aro deadpanned.
"Mia knew that she'll have to be a vampire by that time, Bella had no idea. This isn't fair!" Edward said ignoring the looks he was getting from his family asking him to shut his trap.
Then Caius sat up a little straighter. "Edward." He started. "I have two things to tell you. First, Isabella was told that she must be changed months ago, if the poor human hasn't processed that and prepared for it yet, then I suggest feeding on her and letting it rest. Second, Mia over here, will be changed a month after the wedding."
"A month after the wedding?!" This time it was Bella.
"Yes, darling. A month after the wedding." Mia replied.
"Why?!" Bella asked pressing on.
"I want to be a human at my own wedding." She replied.
"But then you're being unfair to your sister!" Edward said. "Doesn't she deserve a wedding as a human too?" He asked.
"Well then you better get married within the next two months." Mia said. "Unless you want her, a human, in a castle full of vampire who will undoubtedly want to feed on her."
"They'll want to feed on you too!" Bella yelled.
At this Mia actually laughed. "No they won't cousin dearest. I'm sure they value their existence that much. I'm going to be the vampire king's bride. The queen. Their queen. Ironic actually! The vampires will bow down to a human queen. It'll be fascinating. Anyways, they will not even think of harming me. Besides, I'll be under heavy guard and next to one of the kings at all times." She said coolly.
"I'm sure your parents will love that." Bella muttered. Of course, the vampires heard that.
"Glad you mentioned them!" Caius said. "Mia's parents have actually agreed to be turned as well! Isn't that amazing?!" He said.
Bella looked at him not believing her ears as Mia smirked. Then she had the guts to ask, "Can my parents...?"
"Of course!" Mia said before Bella could even finish the question.
"And obviously, if they refuse, dispose of them at that moment." Aro added coldly.
Bella and Edward looked at him with distaste knowing that there's nothing they can say to him.
