When I pull into my driveway I take a deep breath.

"You can do this." I repeat to myself.

I slowly get out of the car. Don't be pushy, be on point. Don't be pushy, be on point.

I slowly walk to the door. My hands shake. Can I go through with this? okay, one two-

The door opens and Jason stares at me.

"Oh, hello." He says.

"Hey. I.... I need to... talk to Patty. I think."

"Oh, well, he took Melanie home." Jason says.

"Oh......" I mumble. "Could you send him over to my place when he gets home?" I ask.

"Yeah. Corse." He says.

"Thanks."

I walk back to my house and into the kitchen. My mom stands at the stove.

"Hey, where'd you go?" She asks.

"I. Went to grandmas." I explain.

"Oh... Should I ask why?"

"I just.... had a question." I stutter.

"Oh. Okay." She smiles.

I go up stairs and get my electric keyboard. It's battery operated, and it's a beautiful day.

I pick it up off its stand and walk back down stairs. I sit in the backyard, on the grass, and pull my notebook out.

I play a song I've been writing for the last month. It's a slow love song and I want it to be a duet.

I start to write out the lyrics.

"I felt so warm when you held me tight,

My heart, my skin, you are my light.

You told me 'mosaics are broken pieces of glass and are considered beautiful .'

And I realized your all I need.

But we are a train wreck, and train wrecks burn!

They burn, and so will we."

I scribble. I play the notes on the paper and sing the lyrics to the piano.

"You're amazing."

My eyes shoot up and Patty stands with how hands in pockets. I push he hair in my face behind my ear.

"Hey." I strain.

"Listen, me an Melanie are NOT dating. She just made that up. Also, I need to get something off my chest." He confesses.

"Me first." I say.

He walks over and sits next to me. I take a deep breath.

"This may sound silly, but... do you believe in..... Never mind."

"No tell me." Patty insists.

"Love at first sight. Do you think... that can happen?" I ask. I'm probably about 7 different colors of red right now. I put my head down to hide my face.

Patty's eyes light up, and he nods violently.

"I.... Patty I....." i can't say It. Im choking on the air I'm supposed to breath. It's toxic and my lungs burn.

"I love you." I say finally.

"You do?" he asks putting his finger under my chin and pulling it up. I nod slowly.

He slowly leans in and his lips connect to mine instantly. I wrap my hands around his neck while one of his land on my back, and one hand on the ground.

The kiss was steady and I slowly fall back onto the green summer grass. Patty hovers above me.

When he comes back for a breath he stares strait into my eyes and says, "I love you."

My heart flutters. I bite my lip and let out a little giggle. He laughs and burrows his face into the side of my neck, leaving small butterfly kisses.

"WOOP WOOP!" some one shouts.

Me and Patty shoot up and look around. Jason, Luke, and Marina have their heads popped over the hedge that separates our two yards.

"PATTY FINALLY GOT THE GIRL!" Luke shouts.

I blush and hide my face, Patty just laughs.

"Get out'a here!" Patty says throwing a pine cone at the three. I giggle as the all duck. There's a squeal and a loud collapsing sound.

Patty laughs again. Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE his laugh? it just, uhg, makes my have butterflies. He's so adorable.

He pulls me down on top of his chest and studies my face.

"Patty?"

"Mm?" he hums, making his chest vibrate.

"Are we.... dating?" I ask.

"Well.... uh.... do you want to?" he asks. "I know with your brother just passing and stuff it might be hard."

"I hate obvious decisions. It's the obvious choice but I always choose the wrong answer." I groan looking at the blue sky.

"That's alright, babe." He shrugs, running his fingers through my hair.

'Babe.' that's a new one. Another word he says so easily, and it's my whole world.

"Nobodies perfect." He reminds me. I nod.

We lay quietly for a while.

The obvious answer is, yes! I don't need to overthink. He says one word and I get giggly, and butterflies, and giddy.

"Yes." I say finally.

"Yes, what?" he asks looking down at me.

"I want to date you. I want to be all yours, if you will be all mine." I admit.

"I'm all yours babe." He grins. I give him a small kiss on the bottom of his jaw and he smiles. "Now my heart can stop racing."

I laugh.

"I like it when you call me that." I say quietly.

"What? babe?"

"Yeah. It kinda just... Yeah." I can't explain. I just... yeah.

He laughs and kisses the top of my head.
