I wake up on Patty's chest to the sound of the front door closing. I sigh and close my eyes one again.
"Carrie? Are you home?" I jump at the sound of my moms voice.
Me. And Patty. Are. In. My. Bed.... Naked!
I don't know how she'll react! I quickly get up, wrap a blanket around me, and run to lock my bedroom door.
"Yeah just a second!" I shout through the door.
"What's wrong?" Patty asks waking up.
"My moms home early!" I breath running to my drawer. I pull out clothes.
"So?" he groans. I slowly turned to him in confusion.
"You are naked in my bed." I whisper. Patty looks down.
"Oh yeah." I laugh throw his shirt at him.
We quickly get dressed and go downstairs. I stop instantly when i hear my mom crying from the kitchen. Patty looks at me worriedly, I nod and tell him I'll see him later.
"Bye."i whisper kissing his cheek. "I love you."
"I love you. Call if you need something." He tells me going out the door.
I slowly walk into the kitchen.
"What's wrong mama?" I say skittishly.
"Oh Carrie." She says standing, she hugs me tightly. "I love you so much." My lip quivers.
"I love you too... W-What's wrong?" I stutter.
"Carrie please don't be angry with me I don't know how it happened or-"
"Mom please tell me!" I say quickly.
"Carrie, at my doctors appointment today, they, um. They found 8 tumors on my lungs." My heart stops. "Carrie... I have cancer. I only have 2 months to live." She breaths gently.
"No. No! This isn't suppose to happen to you! This shouldn't be happening! What did I do?!" I cry up to God.
"Carrie." She says wrapping her arms around my shoulders. "Carrie please don't cry."
"Mom you can't ask me not to cry! your not gonna be here in two months! your gonna be dead. Mom you don't deserve to die." I sob.
"I'm so sorry baby." She says holding me tight. I hug her back tightly, as If I held her tighter she wouldn't go anywhere.
"Mom I'm not letting you do this alone. I'm staying next to you until...." I break out into sobbing again.
"Thank you. I love you." She whispers.
My hands at shaking, my head is spinning, and my heart is beating like a rabbits.

When my mom tells me she's going to lay down, I feel like I can't leave her side. As if, if I blink her heart will stop.
I dial Patty's number. His car isn't in the parking spot so I don't think he's home.
"Hey babe." He says cheerfully.
"P-Patty." I sniffle.
"What? What's wrong?! What happened?!" He asks quickly.
"Where are you?" I ask.
"I'm home. I'm coming over." He says hanging up.
I curl up on my porch waiting for him. He comes our of his house two seconds later and looks over at me crying. He runs over to where I am and kneels down in front of me.
"What's wrong? Are you hurt?!" He asks cupping my face making me look into his eyes.
"N-No. It's my mom." I sob.
"What is it?" He asks.
"She's dying Patty. She has cancer." I sob with a sniffle.
He looks shocked. He sits next to me and wraps his arms around my shaking body. He hushes my sniffles and kisses my head trying to comfort me.
"Im so so so Sorry." He whispers.
I'm crying so hard I'm shaking.
"How long do the doctors say she has?" He asks.
"Two months." I say calming down.
He wipes the tears from my cheeks.
"You don't have to do his alone." He whispers into my hair. "I'm here with you... always."
I cuddle closer to him. He holds me tightly.
"Patty. She's asleep. I keep thinking.. I-I'll go to wake her up... then she-"
"Don't think like that." He says quickly interrupting me. "Let's go inside. It's cold out."
I nod and fallow him inside.
After watching TV I look at the clock. 1 AM.
"I probably need to go back to the house babe." He says kissing my head. "Call, text, come get me if you need anything." He says.
"Okay." I say. He kisses my head and walks toward the door.
What if she has to go to the hospital tonight.
What if she doesn't last 2 months. Only 2 hours.
"Patty." I say quickly standing. He turns around and looks at me worriedly.
I gulp and run to wrap my arms around him. He hugs back.
"Will you stay with me?" I ask.
"I was hoping you'd say that." He says.
I yawn against his chest.
"C'mon." He says taking my hand.
I fallow him up the stairs to my bedroom. I go to the bathroom and wash my face.
I change into Patty's 'fuck' shirt from Italy. Patty smiles warmly. I smile back, blushing.
Patty is laying in bed in his boxers. I crawl in to bed next to him. I intertwine our legs, and bodies.
A perfect jumble of bodies.
