Patty's POV:

I wake up with Carrie still in my arms. She's awake, and her lip is between her teeth, telling me she's concentrating.

"Hey." I speak groggily. She looks up at me with big brown eyes.

"Hi." She kisses my jaw.

"Whatcha thinking about?" I ask.

"Um, I don't know. Everything." She mumbles.

"Something specific." I suggest.

"Moving." She whispers.

"What?" I ask looking her in the eye.

"Only for a couple months. Back to California. Just so when mom....." she trails off. I rub her back."S-She can be buried with, um, Jake."

"Well.... what else about this moving. Do you think about it as a serious possibility?"

"Um. Yeah. I really want them together. And I think she should see her siblings over in Cali." She explains.

I nod. "When would you leave? how long would you be gone?" I question.

"We'ed leave soon, and I'm not sure when we would come back." She says trying not to look at me.

"Would I be attending this trip?" I ask. She looks up at me with hopeful eyes.

"I-I don't know. I was hoping but I don't know about your work schedule and other... things." She says fiddling her fingers and blushing.

I kiss her forehead. "I'll be there when you need me." I whisper. She wraps her arms around my neck and rolls us over to where she lays on my chest on top of me.

She sits up, I run my hands down her bare waist.

"You so beautiful." I whisper looking at her. I look up to her eyes. We catch contact and she blushes. She leans down and kisses my lips. "I love you."

"I love you." She says, her voice breaking.

I gently run my finger tips up and down her back, making chills grown on her arms and smile on my face.

Carries POV

I finally decide to climb out of bed and get dressed. And by get dressed, I mean leggings and a sweater. I guess that's better than sweats and a tank top.

I walk down stairs leaving Patty to get dressed. My mom is in the kitchen at the table.

"Morning mom." I say hugging her from behind.

She smiles and puts her hand on my arm. "Morning."

"How do you feel?" I ask trying to hide my deep concern.

"Um, I'm feeling okay." She says shrugging.

"Coffee?" I ask turning to the coffee pot.

"I have tea." She smiles holding up her mug. I nod and continue to make myself coffee.

I sit at the table next to her once I'm done fixing my coffee.

"So, mom." I begin. She laughs.

"So, Carrie." She imitates.

"I was thinking, maybe we could go over to California for a visit. Just to see family and stuff." I suggest stirring my coffee.

"When did you think of this?" She ask becoming more serious.

"Eh, earlier this week." Lies.

"Oh, well...." she ponders for a while.

"If you don't feel well enough than y'know we could just-"

"No no Carrie. I love the idea!" she smiles.

"Okay. We can leave in a couple weeks maybe?" I suggest. "I'll get plane tickets and handle all that." I assure her. She just smiles. Its a weak smile.

"Morning ladies." Patty says entering the kitchen.

"Morning." My mom says with the same smile.

Patty brings his hands to my shoulders and squeezes. Somehow releasing some pressure. My shoulders relax a little without knowing they're tense.

"So, what are ladies talking about?" Patty asks with a smile, sitting at the table, and setting his chin on his palms. I giggle. I feels like forever since I've laughed, when it was probably only yesterday.

"Carrie wants to go see family." My mom says taking a sip of tea.

Patty nods, and pretends to be interested and surprised.

Their chat goes back and forth.
