It's Friday now, it's been 3 days since the fight with my aunt Dian, and I'll have to see her tomorrow because the funeral is tomorrow.

I'm sitting in mine and Patty's room. Yes OURS. My aunt Carmen doesn't seem to care.

She came upstairs just a second ago asking if we were hungry. We were so we went downstairs and ate lasagna. Now Patty is in the shower.

Aunt Carmen and Jameson have gone to bed but I'm up late working on my speech.

Pattys POV

I step out of the bathroom and turn to see Carrie, still sitting at her laptop where I left her when I got IN the shower.

Her body is tense and her fingers don't dare to move. I slowly walk up behind her and put my hands on her shoulders, she flinches. I look down at her concerned.

"Sorry, you scared me." She whispers. She rubs her sleepy eyes and puts her hands in her lap, staring intensely at the computer screen. I begin to rub her shoulders slowly. She lets out a sigh and closes her eyes.

"You need to get some sleep." I mumble quietly in her ear. Her eyes fly open instantly.

"No no. I need to finish this." She says. She puts her hands back up to the key board. She swallows hard and stares at the screen.

I lean over her shoulder reading what she has so far.

'My mother was'....

That's it. That's all that's on the screen.

"More like you need to begin this." I smile, trying to hide my laughter.

"Okay, I can't do this with you reading over my shoulder." She says looking at me defensively.

"Alright I'll leave you alone. I'm gonna go to bed." I say kissing her cheek. "Goodnight."

"Night." She mumbles. She curls up in her seat getting comfortable.

I lay down on my side of the bed and turn off the lamp. The bright light of the MacBook screen lights up Carrie face.

She takes a deep breath and bites her lip. She removes her hands from the keyboard and puts them back up slowly.

I situate myself and fall asleep.

I wake up 3 hours later and 4 o'clock in the morning. The computer is still on, but Carrie is curled up asleep in the chair.

I rub my eyes and roll out of bed. I walk over to Carrie. She stirs as I slowly pick her up.

"Patty?" She groans sleepily.

"It's late, Love. Go back to sleep." I tell her.

"But I need to-"

"Carrie go to sleep. Please." I beg her. Her brown doe eyes look up at me as I slowly lay her in bed.

"Okay." She whispers.

I kiss her forehead and walk back to my side of the bed and pull Carrie closer to me. I wrap my arms around her waist and she curls up into a ball, making her smaller than she actually is.

And for the second time this.. morning. We go to sleep.

The next morning I wake up to Carrie cuddling close to my chest. I try not to wake her as I slowly wiggle out from under her.

I brush my teeth, comb my hair, and put on a t-shirt and sweats and head down stairs. I don't get dressed because i'll have to get really dressed up for the funeral later today.

I tread down stairs and into the kitchen. Jameson sits at the kitchen table eating cereal slowly... almost like a cow....

I sit across from him.

"Morning." He says groggily.

"Morning. Where's your mom?" I ask.

"She went to finish some things up at the thing." He says half awake. I laugh. "There's, uh, some cereal, or eggs and bacon if you really want to go through all that trouble."

"Em, got anything like... bagles?" I ask not trying to sound rude. He raises and eyes brow and stands from his breakfast.

"I think so. I just thought you'd be pretty hungry since you didn't eat anything last night at dinner." He says handing me the bag of cinnamon and raisin bagles.

"I am, I'm just a Vegan." I shrug trying not to make a big deal.

"Dude, why didn't you tell me? We have these Vegan microwave meals in the freezer. My older sister is vegan too." He laughs. "You didn't have to starve yourself."

I shrug dropping a bagle in the toaster.

"Hey, where's Carrie by the way?" Jameson asks.

"She's still sleeping. She stayed up really late last night trying to finish that speech thing." I say leaning against the counter.

"Ah." He nods. "Did she finish it?" he asks with a smile.

"No. She fell asleep durning the middle and I had to carry her to bed. Even when she woke up she tried to finish it, I thought I would have to glue her to the bed." I chuckle.

"Yup that's Carrie, she was the same in high school. Determined and stubborn, but also lazy and a huge procrastinator." We laugh.

"Stop laughing." Carrie groans walking into the kitchen rubbing her sill tired eyes.

"Aye, there she is." Jameson smiles.

"Shut up Jameson." She scoffs. I try to hide my smile. She turns, standing on her tip toes to reach a bowl and the cereal. I smile. I never realized how small Carrie actually was.

"Morning." I say quietly, but loud enough to get her attention.

"Morning." She says kissing my cheek ad walking away.

She gets the milk out of the fridge and almost misses the bowl. I snicker. "I can hear you even if I can't see you."

Carries POV

"Sorry." Patty's voice echoes through the kitchen still raspy from sleep.

I look over at Jameson who puts his bowl in the sink and exits the kitchen.

"I'm going to get a shower." He says walking out.

"Have fun." I tell him before he walks up the stairs.

I sit at the kitchen table and look over at Patty, who is now getting his beagles out if the toaster.

He comes and sits done next to me. We both finish our breakfast before Patty starts a conversation.

"Are you ready for today?" he asks.

I swallow hard. "I guess so.... Not really.... I don't know." I say putting my head in my hands.

"Hey." He says quietly. "It's gonna be okay." His hand moves to my thigh and slowly moves up and down.

I look up to Patty's beautiful blue eyes. We both lean in and press our lips together gently. I press my forehead to his gently.

"Thank you." I mumble.
