Orion's POV
Man, all the top gangs are here. We can finally establish our true enemies and allies. We'll be able to trade our goods too. This is gonna be epic.
Orion finds himself in another gathering at the park with the usual gang and their turf meetings. Orion's mother isn't aware of his doings in gang activity, but his younger sister has always suspected something. She is starting to get real fed up.
Stewart's POV
"Have you heard from Orion sweetie? He said he would be at a friends studying until 20:45 (8:45pm)." Mom asked.
"I'm not sure.", I lightly respond.
Ohh ho ho I know where he is alright. Off with those "study mates" of his, dealing an illegal substance probably, or checking out girls with those "study mates".
I head up stairs and start on homework. All advanced Pre-Ap classes. Studying day and night. My job, working at the bakery. I do it for the family. Dad left so... isn't Orion supposed to be helping things not be so terrible? Isn't he supposed to be the next dominant protector of the household? No. He is not. Never home. Never working. Never being a good older brother.
Homework complete, I already did some in school.
I look at the clock. 21:08 (9:08pm)
Never here. I work my butt off, but I still have pressure on my shoulders. I try so hard. I'm aching. I'm tired. He needs to be here.
I remove my school blouse and skirt. I tie my hair back into a braid and head downstairs. I miss a step and fall all the way down the staircase.
Ow. Oi! Hng! Ouch! Son of a-ouuuuchhh!
I get up quickly and shake it off.
"Mom? What are you doing?", I peek around the corner.
On the table there was a cup set out with tea and there was a 100 dollar bill by the cup.
Mom turned around and gave a exhaustive smile. "This is for Orion. He must be studying so hard. I am truly proud of him. I hope he becomes something greater than his father and greater than this life. Because of him, I have hope."
I smile at her and slowly walk away.
It's not true mom.
As soon as I reach the stairs. I bolt to my room fighting back the urge to cry. I slam my door shut and go to my desk. I look at all the 95's and 100's on my papers.
I mumble to myself, "All this.. all this, but for what?-"
I grab my papers and throw them across my room. I throw papers everywhere. I sink to my knees and quietly sob as the silhouette of papers flutter onto the ground around me.
"All this is useless. You're going to hurt mom again Orion. I'm always holding us up, but she still believes in you...you.. you stupid-"
I continue to cry.
Orion's POV
Orion and the other gang members are stirring up some madness. Their goal is to form alliances.
I think to myself, I'm a man now.
Fox comes and pats me on the back, he is one of the most important members of the gang.
"Orion. This is how it feels to be someone useful man. We do what we want. See, we all have a place here. No more things dragging you down."
Fox is true. When I'm here, I feel worth something. I don't have no useless mother or weak sister around to hold me back. At least not here. I'm 17 years old. This is my life.
Stewart's POV
I think to myself for a long while.
No. You are strong. Enough is enough, for the sake of the family....get Orion to come back and stop lying. I'm sick of this. Mom has faith and I won't let that change because of Orion. Not this time.
Stewart cleans up her room and then goes to her dresser to find the most intimidating clothes she has. The result is a gray V-neck shirt with a black and white flannel over it, along with black pants and high top checkered shoes. To finish it off, she gets her black cap puts it on backwards. Her hair is now in a low messy bun. This is the new Stewart.
I'm going into THUG territory. No one is going to under estimate me.. including my brother. I grab my satchel and go.
I try my best to walk out of the house unnoticed.... and right when I'm at the door frame....
"Honey? Where are you going?"
OH SHRIMP!!! SHE CAUGHT ME.
I epically turn my head and say the awesome following words.....
"Ohhh...Hey mom! What's shaking? I'm just going to the convince store to get some melon bread!"
"But, you hate melon bread."
"PUBERTY CHANGES YOUR TASTE BUDS TOO!!! HAHAHAHA.... ok bye."
I sprint out of the house onto the sidewalk and keep running. I hear my mom yell from the house,
"BUT YOU ARE ONLY 14!!!!
Well, starting now... I'm not 14 anymore.
Orion's POV
Something fishy is starting up right now. Some guy from our gang is dating some other gang members ex-girlfriend and things aren't looking well. I can practically see the tension rising. Everyone seems up for a fight.
Fox offers me a cigarette. "Take one, let's see how this unravels."
I smirk at him and light the cigarette.
Some other gang member approaches Fox and outta nowhere, he punches him in the jaw. I see Fox's body fling back onto the ground. I push the guy away from him and hold him by the front of his shirt.
"You better not play any games here dude." I say to his face. "Watch who you're hitting."
Fox stands up and wipes the blood from his lip.The other guys speaks, "Do you know what's gonna happen now punk?"
Other gang members were now surrounding each other.. including me. It's about to go down.
