it's here, you know it is
don't pretend that you don't,
ask your heart and it'll tell you the truth.
you went there,
the place with the pretty lights,
the face with a pretty smile,
the face that ruined your favourite place
and the giggles and uke strings couldn't drive it away,
you can push with all you have
but the memory is too strong, too deeply engraved
and you've dodged it for longer than you realised.
so even if you deny,
you know it's here, and you know it's come for you.
the girl with the green hair held you
but you and your damn trust issues.
can't you be normal for once?
all the blue ticks and forced laughter mock you now
and the sound of their voices are no longer avoidable.
how long will you hide behind this pretence?
how long till it catches your throat?
honey, the clock has almost struck twelve,
your time is going to be up.
keep telling yourself you don't care
because you've become better.
but don't pretend you don't know
it's only because you've given up.
go on, answer the door,
after all, you do know what's waiting on the other side.
