Chapter 14: Doesn't Mean I Won't

[Shane's POV]

I showed Sawyer the text from Joey.

"Wow... I mean, I knew he liked you, but I didn't know just how much..."

"Wait, you knew too?!"

"Yeah... Everyone who was at that first get together knows. He told us when you went off with Ingrid."

"Sawyer... I fucked up... I mean, yeah, the text is sort of creepy, but... I sort of feel the same way..."

"Really?"

"Yeah... I mean... Have you SEEN him? He's... He's beautiful... He's funny, sweet, caring, honest, and... And I ruined everything... I mean, I'm so confused... One day he ignores me, the next he's going on about how much he loves me... And I don't know what to do..."

"Just tell him how you feel. I mean, he told you. You owe him some sort of response."

"Yeah... Well, what should I say?"

"Everything. Everything that's on your mind. Let it out."

I took a deep breath and began composing a message to Joey.

The text read: "Joey... I didn't know how strongly you felt... And honestly, I feel the same way... Remember when I told you I'd let you know if I loved you? Well guess what? I love you. And I'm looking forward to seeing you tonight. I hope one day, all your little fantasies will come true. ;)

But anyways, if you ever wanna say something like that, don't be afraid to call. If rather hear those words from your mouth, rather than read them off my phone. Even if it's 3am on Monday morning, I'll answer in a heartbeat."

I took a deep breath.

I hit send.

[Joey's POV]

It had been 20 minutes since I accidentally sent that to Shane... He read it, but hasn't responded. I probably creeped him out and ruined everything... I buried my face in my pillow and silently began to cry.

But my sadness was interrupted by a familiar sound.

My phone.

I had a text.

I knew it wasn't Shane, but I checked just in case.

I unlocked my phone, and read the text that was surprisingly from the last person I thought would text me. Shane.

He... Loves me...

He said it himself...

Without even thinking, I called him.

Even though I was still scared of Ricky, I knew I HAD to go to the movie... Maybe I'll go with Meghan, and just 'happen' to be in the same theatre as them.

"Hello?"

Shane's voice ran through my ears like your favourite song on replay. I couldn't get enough.

"Hey... I uh... Didn't know you felt that way."

"Surprise..."

"I could hug you..."

He laughed.

"Well I'm at Sawyer's if you wanna tag along? We're going to see a movie with the gang."

"Yeah Sawyer asked me already."

"Cool... So yeah?"

"Maybe... I might end up going with Meghan... Uh... Actually... Can you meet me at our spot... Please? I have something I need to tell you..."
