Camila's POV
"Cool place." Ron mocked as we entered the Hog's Head.
"I thought a small place would be safer." Hermione shrugged as she led us through the empty and strangely macabre pub.
When I suggested a counter attack on the Ministry, I didn't expect them to take my idea so seriously. When I did, I was thinking entirely of Lauren and a way to get her out of the underworld she'd been in, for somehow I knew her true essence; I was the only person who had uncovered that heart armored by ice. According to Dumbledore, choosing the dark side was the apex for Lauren when she felt betrayed by the people she trusted the most. And I understood her. Anyone who knew her well enough would know that her going to the bad was done at the time of anger, that was the only place with people who wanted her in some way, and whether she wanted it or not, Lauren always had her weakness for the dark magic. What intrigued me, however, was the fact that it had been so long and she hadn't realized her mistake, tp not turned away from Voldemort, even if she didn't forgive me.
All I wanted from Lauren was her good, even if it pushed her away from me.
"This place reminds me of my grandmother's house" Dinah said disgustedly.
We entered a small room, with curved windows and so incrusted with soot that there was little sunlight there. Harry and Ron pulled some chairs out to Hermione, Dinah, and me, and then sat down next to us in a row of 5.
"I still think it's crazy. I'm a freak, remember? Who would want to learn from me?" Harry complained, twisting his nose when the silence fell between us.
"You can't be worse than that frog face." Ron joked trying to relax the atmosphere. "Anyone in that school would want to rebel against her."
Dinah snapped her tongue.
"Anyone but the director. Dumbledore is missing from the halls while that madwoman dominates the whole school," Her eyes fell on me, and then on Harry. "You're both his favorite, you must know something."
I shook my head, just like Harry. I wasn't called into the principal's room for a conversation about Lauren for a while, or the discovery of any clue about her whereabouts. The truth is that, stopping to analyze, Dumbledore had disappeared since Umbridge had taken the school like High Inquisitor.
Silence filled the place again as we were caught by our thoughts, but the shrill sound of the door being opened woke me before Lauren ruled my mind again.
"How many do you think is coming?" Harry asked.
Hermione shrugged.
"We'd better wait and see."
I hadn't said a word since we left school. I didn't feel like being there, or anywhere that wasn't looking for Lauren. I didn't tell them my intentions, and I would never say. Who would understand that I was involved in the war for a Death Eater? Harry barely touched on the subject, and when his sister's name was mentioned, he soon tried to change the conversation.
I was alone.
Half an hour later the small room housed about 28 students who stared at Harry with acidity. Ginny passed us without even greeting us and sat between Michael Corner and Neville, the latter who didn't seem to know what he was doing there. I frowned. That girl had been acting strange for the last couple of days, and the blush on Hermione's cheeks whenever she and the redhead were in the same room denounced that I had miss something.
