Jackie Simmons
"I love my husband, I'll never stop loving him. I can't stop loving him, and I'll never able to live without him. Please, don't hurt him. Hurt me if you want, but don't kill my husband. I'll do anything, just leave Brad alone," I sobbed, as I stopped the man from whipping Brad. But then, something caught me off guard. When I looked closely at him, I realized that it was the man who tried to rape me. Suddenly, I became aware of my senses, and I knew that I would have to give this man something in order for him to call it quits.
"No, I'm fine. This is the perfect revenge. I think I'll kill him while I'm at it," the man smirked.
"No, please. You've already torn his flesh. There's no more damage for you to do! He'll die! Please, I'll do anything!" I screamed, pulling at the man's arms, but he kept whipping my husband, and I heard his yells of agony across the room.
"This is revenge for what he did to my wife! He is responsible for her death and the deaths of my children. I want to taste his blood. He'll die by my hands!" The man seethed as he watched me get on my knees and beg him to have mercy.
"Listen, I don't know what he's done. I don't know why you are so mad at him, but I'll give you all the money you want to make up for what he did. If you want, you can hurt me. I'll take the price of what he did, but please, don't kill him," I pleaded, pouring my heart out to the man.
"Deal," he laughed, "I want the money by Wednesday."
He dropped the whip, and I ran over to my husband, crying. He shook him by his shoulders, begging him to not pass out before I can call someone for help.
"Don't cry, take care of our baby. I love you, don't forget that," he said, while putting a hand over my swollen stomach.
"No, no! You're not dying, I need you!" I screamed, and my husband's breath left his body forever.
I woke up from the dream, breathing hard as tears ran down my red face. It had been months since that incident happened at the party. So why was I dreaming about the man who almost raped me? Maybe, I was just hyperventilating.
"It's just a dream, Jackie," I told myself, "It's just a dream."
I looked around my room, glancing at the clock. It was five in the morning and Brad slept quietly in his bed next to me.
All of a sudden, a wave of nausea hit me and I ran to the bathroom. I bent down to the toilet and I threw up everything in my stomach. I continued gagging and eventually, I ceased from throwing up. What was going on? Was I sick? Olivia had a stomach virus about two weeks ago. Maybe I caught something from her.
I gathered myself from off the floor and I went to my room to lay back down again. I had nothing else to do so I called Olivia. She was always up at this time of night because she was either reading books or eating. It became normal for us to chat all the at this time, as crazy as that seems.
I smiled when I heard Olivia picking up the phone, wide awake. "Hey, what's up?"
"I can't sleep. I don't feel good. I just threw up," I replied, twirling a piece of my curly hair.
"Dude, I feel like I gave you my virus. I am so freaking sorry. I'll have Josh drop you off some ibuprofen later," I heard her convey to me.
"Thanks, what's going on with you?" I ask, just mindlessly chatting.
"Nothing much, just school and family. My parents and I are taking a trip to Malaysia in about three days. It's going to be quite a trip and I would invite you. But your mom would not like that. Speaking of your mom, she called me this morning. She told me to tell you that you and Brad have to attend some lame family event. Pfft, I said, 'Bye Felicia!' I mean, no offense but your family is kind of old-fashioned. Girl, I'm telling you-"
