My guardian ~Newt~

You and the Gladers had finally made it to the city, but with too much sacrifice. Thunder still roared outside.

"Is everyone okay!" Newt shouted while carrying Minho into the building. Newt and Thomas carefully put Minho in the corner. Thomas stayed with him while Newt ran over to you. He wrapped his arms around you. You were shaking and tears fell rapidly down your face. "Are you okay?" Newt said, panic filling his voice. He scanned your body looking for any signs of injury.

"I'm fine, I'm fine" you stuttered. He smiled.

"You're staying with me now" Newt confirmed. "Wherever we go on the Scorch, you'll be by my side"

"No" grumbled someone from the corner. You and Newt turned to look at a stirring Minho.

"What Minho?" Newt said slightly offended. Minho began to stand up but Thomas pushed him back down.

"I'm sorry Newt but I'm much stronger, if anyone should look after Y/N it's me," Minho said forcefully, winking at you playfully. Newt wasn't amused, in fact, his face showed complete horror.

"Bloody hell Minho you can be a right kluck sometimes," Newt said stepping forwards. "She's with me" Minho got up breaking through Thomas' attempt of holding him back.

"Slim it Newt!" Minho growled. For a minute you thought Minho was going to hit Newt.

"Guys, let's just all stay together!" Thomas said matter-of-factly.

"Thomas, she needs a guardian," Newt said grabbing your hand. You blushed a bit. "And that's me"

"Let's just ask her," Minho said, "Y/N who do you think should look after you?" Your heart started racing. It was true you'd had a crush on Newt since your first day on the Glade but Minho would look after you better.

"Um..." you began, however, you had no answer.

"Look, I like you Y/N," Minho said, you couldn't hold back the shocked look on your face. He'd always been kind to you although you never would've guessed that.

"What!" Newt shouted. "How could you Minho?" Newt shoved Minho making him stumble. Minho swung in for a punch but missed cause of his injuries.

"Stop, stop" you screamed. "Minho I'm sorry but Newt is fully capable of looking after me" You felt guilty but knew it was the right chose.
