You felt a sense of panic erupt deep within you as you feared you may not make it back to the glade before the doors shut.

Barely being able to walk on your own, Mihno was constantly by your side, practically dragging you along so the two of you could make it back in the short amount of time you had left.

Fearing that with you being so slow, you didn't want Mihno to have to stay behind for your mistakes.

"Minho!" You yelled, continuing to limp as he pulled you along.

"Yeah?" He yelled back.

"Go on without me. I don't want you getting stuck here because of my own fault." You instructed to him.

"Nope, not happening, Y/N. You saved my ass back there, there's no way I'm leaving you behind. Come on, just push a little harder, we're almost there." He replied.

Accepting his idea, you pushed just that little bit harder and ended up finding yourselves now in view of The Gladers who were shouting encouragements to the both of you.

Come on, come on, just a little further.
You thought to yourself. But in an instant, any hope that you had left was quick to drain away as you saw either side of the doors begin to move.

Feeling as though you should practically give up and that running any further was utterly pointless, you spotted Newt. He had a look of pure panic and fear in his eyes, you could only just see that he was on the verge of tears.

Newt never cried, which made you realize just how important you both were to him.

Feeling the smallest boost of confidence from Newt's encouragements, you pushed just that little bit harder and made it through the doors just before they shut, instantly collapsing to the ground and blacking at. The last thing you heard before you were thrown into a sea of blackness was Newt shouting your name.

You awoke to the regular humid heat that constantly laced the air, immediately recognizing that you were in one of the medical beds.

Memories of yesterday instantly came flooding back, memories of you practically giving up, or Newt's encouraging words as you just slipped through the doors, you even slightly remember the moment right before you blacked out.

As you looked to your right, there he was. Newt was sat in a very uncomfortable looking chair, his fingers were laced with yours, never planning on letting go.

He looked so peaceful while he slept like there was not a bother in the world. His dirty blonde hair had been tousled in a way that looked so adorable, you couldn't help but smile to yourself. It warmed your heart to think that the whole time you had been unconscious, he had been with you, just waiting for you to wake up.

"Newt," you whispered, rubbing circles on his hand.

He slowly began to open his eyes, inhaling deeply and groggily looking around as he adjusted to his surroundings.

In just the next second, he looked over to you, his face filling with delight.

"Y/N," he muttered to himself, pulling you into a tight embrace.

"Oh God, I was so worried. Y/N, I thought you were gone," Newt whispered, allowing tears to form in his eyes.

"Hey, shh," you whispered, placing your soft hand to his cheek and rubbing small circles. "Don't worry, I'm fine now. I could never leave you behind, Newt."

Newt smiled as he listened intently to every word you spoke.

"I love you so much Y/N, more than anything. Promise you'll never leave me?" He asked with hopeful eyes.

"I promise."
