Snowflakes

Just another poem I wrote for my local writing contest. About snowflakes and life.

Pure as crystal, cold as ice

But look just as pretty, and taste just as nice

Flakes fall, drifting slowly through the winded void

Trying to be caught on the tongue of every girl and boy

All unique and different, yet all the same

Each destined to play an identical game

But one gets caught in a horrid gust

Colliding with a menacing particle of dirty dust

Plagued with such a burden dragging it downward

The weight of it truly absurd

It fights and struggles to no avail

Making it difficult on the wind to sail

The special snowflake discouraged and ready to give in

It falls to the ground and is returned to its friends again

Where it rests peacefully, surrounded by love

And beautiful views of the sky above
