ALLEGRA BENNET FOLLOWED HER PROFESSOR DOWN THE TWISTING HALLS TOWARDS THE HEADMASTER'S OFFICE, the uneasy feeling in her gut increasing with every step she took. The young witch had been pulled out of her potions class by the deputy headmistress and was told that the headmaster wished to speak with her. When she asked for what reason, the older witch simply told her to hurry up. Allegra's legs were moving at double-speed to keep up with her professor's long strides, and she was fiddling with her hair as she walked, a nervous habit that she had never managed to kick.

She couldn't think of any reason, good or bad, that would warrant a meeting with her headmaster, and her mind whirled with a multitude of best and worst-case scenarios: she had won an award, there was a family emergency, she was being expelled for some education-related crime she couldn't remember committing. To put it simply, she was freaking out.

Allegra was a model student if ever there was one; being a muggle-born from a relatively poor family, she relished in the fact that she was lucky enough to receive such an education free of charge. She was sure she hadn't done anything to earn her a punishment, but she didn't think her academic achievements of late were particularly noteworthy either.

Nerves swelled inside her as the deputy headmistress knocked twice on the large oak door and swung it open, ushering the brunette into the vast office.

My, this is beautiful. Allegra's eyes trailed over the domed ceiling and across the shelves and shelves of books, almost every inch of the walls were floor to ceiling bookshelves, stacked with tomes and other tools and trinkets. She was so wrapped up in the beauty of the room that she didn't notice there was an unfamiliar man standing by the headmaster's desk, watching her through his half-moon spectacles.

"Miss Bennet, my apologies for calling you out of class without notice, but there is someone here who wishes to speak to you." Headmaster Fontaine greeted her, gesturing to the bearded man in deep purple robes.

"How do you do, Miss Bennet, my name is Albus Dumbledore." The white-haired wizard smiled at her.

Dumbledore... "Oh! Y-you're the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot! And the headmaster of Hogwarts! It's wonderful to meet you, I'm a big fan!" the witch gushed excitedly.

Dumbledore chuckled. "Indeed I am. And you are Allegra Bennet. I have travelled here to speak with you."

     "With me?"

"Yes, yes, to be sure. It has come to my attention that you possess some incredibly... unique abilities."

"I-I'm sorry?" Allegra glanced between Dumbledore and her headmaster quizzically.

"You are quite adept at healing, yes? Agilbert was just telling me that you have been spending a great deal of time working in the hospital wing, and he's been informed you have quite a knack for it."

"Well, yes, I mean, I have been helping Madame Morkine a bit in my free time since I'd like to be a healer when I graduate, but I wouldn't say I have any particular talents." Allegra dropped her eyes to the floor, fiddling with her hair.

"I don't believe that's true. In fact, I think you're something quite special, Miss Bennet. Not many healers without proper training can pull off many of the things you have; mending bones, healing gashes and reversing curses with just the wave of your wand. You have quite a gift."

"I can assure you I'm not anything special, Professor. I always assumed it was just my wand... it's hawthorn with a phoenix feather core."

"Indeed, but you must remember that it is the wand that chooses the witch or wizard, not the other way around. I think this wand chose you for a reason. If you would be willing, I would like to transfer you to Hogwarts so that we may work together to figure out what the extent of your abilities are."

Allegra's jaw dropped in shock. Transfer? Is that even a thing?

"Take as much time as you need to decide, of course, if you wish to finish your final years at Ilvermorny–"

"No! I mean- I'd love to go. I don't need more time to decide, I'm ready!" The brunette beamed up at the wizard, all too eager to explore the school and country she had read so much about.

Dumbledore laughed heartily. "Wonderful, well, I look forward to seeing you at Hogwarts next year. I'll send you an owl with all the details."

"Great! Wow, I have to go tell everyone!" Allegra practically sprinted out of the office, heading for the Thunderbird dormitories.

"She's most certainly an interesting young witch, that one." Fontaine chuckled.

     "Indeed she is."
