*Previously*

I couldn't say anything before my legs buckled under me and my chest tightened, making it harder to breathe. Niall acted quickly and wrapped his arms under me. "Kylie! Can you hear me?!" I looked into his bright blue eyes, a look of fear present in them. My eyes closed slowly with every second until they closed completely and the last thing I heard was the chanting of my name and Niall's face plastered as the last image I saw before I blacked out.

--------------

The strong smell of latex gloves consumed me and the faint beeping of a machine sounded like a bulldozer to my pounding headache. My eyes fluttered open, my vision a slight blur of only white. As I blinked hard the objects around me began to clear up, revealing that I was in a hospital room. My head turned to the right with the room's only window coming into view, showing the nurses and visitors hastily walking back and forth just beyond my room door. When I turned to the left I saw a sleeping blonde boy sprawled across two chairs that were put together, his left cheek placed in his hand. "Niall." My voice was soft and quiet, almost inaudible. "Niall." I spoke as loudly as I could, still the sound was only a whisper. I grabbed the nearest object I could, a remote, and threw it gently into his lap.

His eyes shot open when he placed his hands on the seat handles and pushed himself up. "What!" He looked at the door, most likely looking for a nurse that had woken him. When his eyes landed on me to find that mine were wide open and staring back at him, his worried glare turned into a sweet one. "Oh Ky..." He breathed out and walked closer to me, kneeling over the bed and placing a gentle kiss onto my forehead. "How are you feeling?"

I placed my right hand to my forehead and frowned, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath. When I opened them again Niall wasn't standing there, he was already walking out the door to get a nurse of some sort.

When he returned moments later, a little brunette followed in behind him. My eyes narrowed to her name card, Juliet. She quickly came over to my bedside and asked me numerous questions. "How are you feeling?" I motioned to my head again just as I had done only a few minutes ago. "On a scale of one to ten how badly does it hurt?"

I thought for a moment before raising seven fingers. "Is that bad? What's wrong with her? Is she alright?" Niall bombarded Juliet with question after question.

"She's fine, that's normal for what she experienced, I'm going to go get a doctor, just talk to her and make sure everything else is fine, I'll be right back."

When Juliet closed the door behind her Niall was back at my side, carressing my hand. "I'm so sorry Kylie, I'm sorry you have to go through this."

"Go through what Niall? What happened to me?" My voice was still a low whisper but it was filled with extreme worry and caution. "Why did I collapse?"

"I'm sorry."

"Niall, please, I need to know what's wrong with me just tell me!" Niall opened his mouth to talk but was cut off when what I assumed to be a doctor walked in.

"Good afternoon Ms. Lawley. How are you feeling?"

"What happened to me? What's wrong with me? Why did I collpase?"

The doctor looked at me with sympathetic eyes before looking back down at the papers he held in his hands. "Well, we've determined that you collapsed because you have a condition where your red blood cell count is low and causes limited oxygen to flow to the brain."

"Anemia." I said out loud.

"Yes, you have anemia."

"Is that all?"

A sigh was let out from the doctor before he continued. "Unfortunately not, along with anemia you have a second condition in which you have an abnormal heart beat, which can disrupt the blood flow of the heart that reaches the brain. That also caused you to collapse because your brain was shut off from the oxygen in the blood."

"Well, is it fatal? Like can I die from this? Is it serious?"

"I can't tell you anything for sure but I can tell you that we've never had a person die from this condition. It won't happen often unless you are under enormous amounts of stress, in which case your heart will beat faster than usual, causing the cut off of blood again." He was pacing back and forth in front of my bed.

I looked at Niall next to me sitting in the chair, his hands running through his hair. "What else aren't you telling me?" I looked back at the doctor and from the corner of my eye I saw Niall's head shoot up, even more evidence that there was still something the doctor wasn't telling me. "You can tell me, doctor."

"Kylie, there is never an easy way to tell a woman, or couple, what I am about to tell you." The way the words left his mouth left me speechless, so I nodded my head, letting him know I was still listening. "While we were running tests we noticed an abnormality, but we can't be sure unless we do proper tests. We need to do a gynecology sonography before we decide what to do next."

"Gynecology sonography?" My breath hitched at the ideas that ran through my head. "What are you trying to tell me?"

Niall's head was back in his hands and his left leg was bouncing up and down. "Kylie, this isn't for sure and we can take further precautions to help you in the future."

"Tell me."

"The condition that you may, or may not, have is something called a bicornuate uterus. This means that your uterus is heart shaped, a malformation of the uterus to be specific. This malformation also means that you can have difficulty conceiving a child. If you do by chance conceive a child, it's a high risk to carry the child to term. The reason being because of the malformation, the baby won't have enough room to turn in head-down position which causes fetal growth retardation and other birth defects, or can also cause a miscarriage."

My mind processed word by word what the doctor was saying, my throat became tighter and my breathing faltered. "So, I can't have kids?"

"It isn't impossible to have children Kylie, but highly unlikely. I'm not trying to make it worse I just need to tell you these things. This isn't for sure either, like I said before we need to run further testing before we can diagnose anything. If you do have this condition then we will definitely begin taking precautions that will be able to help you become pregnant in the future."

"When can we do this test?"

"As soon as you're ready, there's no rush."

"Oh but there is doctor, I need to know as soon as possible whether or not I can have a family of my own one day. Can we run the test now? Please? I need to know what my future holds."

"Your wish is my command Ms. Lawley." He then turned to his nurse and asked for the testing room to be prepped and ready for him in ten minutes.

In ten minutes I will know if my future holds children in it.

So this chapter was longer than the last few, sorry if it was boring this is just a foreshadow of Kylie's future and I needed to get this in so things will make more sense later. A lot more things will be happening soon, so stay tuned and please keep reading!

Also, please vote and comment and all that! I just have a lot of things going on in my life right now so I would greatly appreciate it if you would help make things better for me!
