Eren and Levi were eating dinner when they got the call.
It had been a peaceful day in the small hotel room, well, as peaceful as Eren and Levi could be trapped in the same room. Bickering, frustration, and glares; but some laughs were also shared.
Alas, they'd settled down for what dinner they could manage from the pre-filled refrigerator. Lasagna with a side of exhaustion.
It had been a rough few days for both of the boys. Levi, well, he was still shocked and hurt by the fact that the parents he'd known all of his life, they weren't what he thought they were. As for Eren, they were in this situation because his parents had decided to move to Sina, against the rules that come with being a mercenary. They both hadn't really had time to get themselves together. Their lives had been a lie, and now the lie was in jeopardy of being taken.
That's when the phone rang.
They looked up at each other from across the rectangular wooden table. The only sound in the room came from the noisy air conditioning, and the buz Levi's phone made as it rang against the flat surface.
A silent agreement was made through the intense eye contact Eren and Levi held, prompting Levi to pick up the phone. He looked at the screen. "Private number." Levi said.
"Answer it, put it on speaker." Eren spoke, putting down his fork and pushing aside his plate.
Levi did just that, setting the phone in between the two. "Hello?" Eren said when the call was accepted.
"Eren, Levi. You're in danger. Marco is after you." The voice spoke.
Marco, Levi thought, remembering the name from school. "Who are you?" Levi asked.
"I'm with them, but I know you two, and you don't deserve what Marco and Jean will give." With that, the phone beeped, and the room was silent once again.
"What do we do?" Eren said, a worried look on his face, anxiety seen in his eyes.
"We need to call our parents."
And with that, they did. The phone had been sitting on the small kitchen counter by the entrance for a few days now. It wasn't really necessary at the time, it seemed.
Now, though, it was their one chance at reassurance.
Eren picked it up, going to it's contacts and pressing the only number on speed dial.
It rang, once, twice, three times. No answer. They called again, only to be met with the same result.
It was silent as Eren set the phone down and turned to Levi. What was to be done without their lifeline?

It was another busy day within the warehouse. Most people within it were lounging about the common area, or having playful arguments.
Among these dangerous people was Marco, a young boy who was tricked into joining them. He now worked for the boss, who never shared his name.
The boss ran the city. He had connections within the police department, and just about every large company there. Not that he'd earned it through good deeds, of course.
Despite this, though, he led and ordered around his small gang of thieves and murderers. Fitting, right?
Well, Marco was no murderer. He wasn't even a thief. Far from it, really.
He was simply a ruthless kidnapper. He brought the people in that his boss ordered, and that was that. Simple and easy for someone like Marco with a trouble past.
Now that he had a target, he wouldn't stop until they were struggling in the backseat of his car.
With Eren and Levi on the run, he exited the warehouse and made his way down the gloomy street he'd walked for years.
