"Your friends seem nice." Logan passed a mug to Drew so that she could dry it.
She placed it on the rack in front of her once she dried it. "Yeah, that's not how I would describe them."
An awkwardness lingered in the air surrounding them.
"That's the last of them." Logan broke the silence, referencing the dishes. He glanced at his watch. "I should get going to my hotel."
"You booked a hotel?" Drew asked rather surprised.
Logan wiped his hands on the towel and faced Drew. "Yeah. Where else was I supposed to sleep?"
"You can stay here." Drew offered, sounding more desperate for him to stay than she meant. "I mean it's past midnight now."
Sensing that she didn't want to be alone, Logan decided that he'd stay. "Well, if I would've known you were gonna react better than last time, I would've gotten a refundable hotel room."
"You can take the first room on the right. It's the guest room. It has an en suite too." Drew stood up straight from leaning back on the counter. "I'm gonna get some sleep."
As she turned to walk away, Logan held his hand out to touch her arm. "Merry Christmas, Drew."
A shiver ran through her spine at his touch. "Technically it's boxing day." Drew remained distant.
A confused Logan remained leaning against the kitchen counter, wondering where he was supposed to go from here. Did Drew want him in her life or not? She asked him to stay, yet she still had her walls up. He didn't understand.
On the other hand, Drew was stood in her bedroom with her back against the door. She was filled with a sense of guilt for kissing Logan, though she knew it didn't mean anything. Reve had still not called and she couldn't help but start to worry. Part of her was hoping that he didn't show up because he was in danger, otherwise, she doesn't know if she'd be able to accept his excuse.
Across the hallway, she could here Logan in his room, pacing about. Another question that was tugging at her mind. Why had she asked him to stay? Maybe she just didn't want to feel lonely.
Eventually, the thoughts in Drew's mind calmed down and she managed to fall asleep.
~In the morning~
"Well, I see which brother the cooking skills went to." Drew leaned against the kitchen doorframe.
Logan turned to see her in her joggers and Tshirt. He understood why his brother married her. She was just so beautiful in even the simplest of ways.
"Guilty." He held his hands up. "But Reve was much better at baking than me. He wouldn't let me forget it."
Drew reminsced about the other night when her and Reve made gingerbread houses. "We'd always have these silly little competitions."
"Oh, before I forget, I have something to give you." Logan picked up the box on the counter and handed it to Drew. It was an expensive looking box with a ribbon wrapped around it in the shape of a bow.
Excitedly, Drew untied the ribbon and opened the box. A gasp escaped her lips and she clung onto her wedding ring, still holding the box.
"I saw that you still wore your wedding ring when I saw you last. I thought that if you had a locket instead..." Logan explained.
"Thanks." Drew set down the locket onto the counter and stared at the same hue of Sapphire that was on her finger.
~Flashback~
"It's too early in the morning to be out here, Reve." Drew complains. "What are we doing here? It's freezing."
This morning, Reve woke her up at six A.M. Drew grudgingly followed him to the beach. It was a chilled Autumn morning and Drew would very much rather be in bed.
Reve ignored her complaining until they reached the end of the pier. "Did I ever tell you how much I love your eyes?" He asked.
Drew nodded in response. "They remind you of Sapphire. At least, that's what you always tell me."
Reve looked out onto the water, watching the sunrise. "I saw your eyes and I knew that was going to be my favourite colour for the rest of my life."
"Okay..." Drew is weirded out by his sudden outburst. "I like your eyes too."
"I love looking out at the water because it reminds me of your eyes. It's that same shade of Sapphire." He paused and looked at Drew. "Since I'm being honest, I might aswell tell you, I've never really liked your surname. It just sounds so weird... 'Miss Lancett' 'Agent Lancett'. It just doesn't really go." Reve confesses.
Laughing at Reve's weirdness, Drew shruggs. "And what do you want me to do about that...?"
"Say yes." Getting down on one knee, Reve pulls out a small box and opens it to reveal a Sapphire diamond ring. "All my life, I've faced so much grief. My world was nothing but shades of Grey, but you... You're my Sapphire. You add colour to my world and I can't imagine a world without you so... Spend forever with me?"
"Yes." Drew feels overwhelmed and realises she's crying. She wipes her tears away. "But I'm still deeply insulted about my name. Maybe I shouldn't change it."
"At least take the ring?" Reve put it on her finger. "It would be a great accessory with your outfits."
~Present Day~
"Drew, it's a way to hold onto Reve. I never meant to-" Again, Logan was cut off by her.
"I know." She sighed. "I'm sorry. I've got to go." She grabbed the keys on the counter and practically ran for the door.
Logan called out behind her. "What about breakfast?" He flinched when he heard the door slam shut.
