Feeling nausous, Drew shook her head. "That- That's not true!" She accused. "You're talking about Sky here... Skylar who spends all day taking care of me when I'm sick. Skylar who covers my backside when I mess up. Skylar, the sister that I never had!"
"The sister you have!" Damian yelled. "Just hear me out-"
Drew was quick to interrupt. "No. You sound crazy right now. I'm not hearing it!" Drew turned away to walk back. All she wanted to do was drive home to Reve and explain to him how ridiculous it was that Damian White was accusing Sky of murdering her uncle.
Surprised, Drew was met with a gun pointed in her direction. "Maybe you should stay and listen, sister."
"What are you doing? It's not true..." Her voice trailed off as she slowly started to accept the hard reality. "Or is it?" She managed to ask in a whisper.
"It's true." Damian spoke from behind Drew, causing Skylar to aim her gun at him. "Did your uncle ever tell you about the time he went undercover for three years in Shanghai?" He awaited a response from Drew.
She nodded. "I never met him until my first birthday"
He continued. "Your mum got pregnant with Skylar just two years before she had you. Only, she doesn't share the same father as you. That's right." Drew pieced it together straight away. "Uncle Seb was the father. Your mother confessed to your father that she wasn't pregant with his child, leaving out the information of whose child it was."
Skylar interrupted the fallen silence between them. "He made her give me away. So I spent every single miserable day of my teenage years looking to belong. Then..." She looked at Drew with hope in her eyes. "Then, I found you! Once I found out I had a sister, I made it my mission to look for you."
"But she's a psycho. She wanted you all to herself so she killed everyone close to you! Your uncle, your husband..." A sudden gunshot cut Damian's words off.
"Silence!" Drew turned her attention to Skylar. She was shaking, seeing Skylar in such a state that she never imagined she would see.
Looking back and forth between Damian bleeding out on the floor and Skylar, Drew stepped back. "Please." She pleaded.
"Don't you see, now we can share our happily ever after. Isn't that what you want?" Skylar stepped closer.
Drew stumbled back a step. "No! That is not what I want, you psycho!" She swallowed hard, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Why? Why would you try to take everyone away from me?"
Shrugging as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, Skylar sighed. "Because I was supposed to make you happy. I am your family. Those people who gave you an easy life, they made my life hell! They got what was coming to them."
"You will never be my family!" Drew scoffed. "Reve is my family. Finn is my family but you... You're nothing but a disgrace."
"That's not true." Skylar chuckled to herself stepping forward. "All my life people have called me things, told me I don't belong. So do you really think calling me a disgrace will have an affect on-"
"Oh, save the sob story!" Without hesitation Drew yelled. "You think you had it tough? I didn't have it easy either!"
~Flashback~
A knock at the door catches her attention. "Can I come in?"
Not needing to glance up to know who it is, Drew answers. "You're already inside my room. A bit pointless asking isn't it?"
"Are you okay?" Her mum asks taking a seat next to her on the floor leaning against the bed.
"A bit pointless asking isn't it?" Drew repeats her phrase from before.
Taking Drew's face into her hands gently, her mum turns her face to get a better sight of the gash. "I do actually care, you know."
"Is that why you just stand there and let him hit me?" Drew continues staring blankly at the silver and teal wallpaper.
"Look at me Drew." Grudgingly, Drew turns her head and comes face to face with her mother. "It may seem like I don't care but what am I supposed to do? I'm also scared of him."
Drew takes her mum's hands into her own. "Leave him! It's that simple." She pauses when she sees her mother shaking her head in refusal.
"I can't leave him. He's my husband." Her mum says, causing a pained look to mask Drew's face.
"And I'm your daughter!" Drew looks away to hide the tears forming in her eyes. "It's always going to be him. Everytime. Well mother, one day you're going to have to choose between us."
That horrible feeling in Drew's chest was due to the fact that she knew her mother had already chosen. And it wasn't her.
~Present Day~
"Okay princess, what hardships did you face exactly? Not having the latest phone or mummy refusing to pay for a trip to Paris with your friends?" Skylar taunted.
"No. I wasn't even allowed to have friends. My father would beat me for interacting and getting too close with other people. Just in case I told them the truth about my parents. And my mother- our mother..." She corrected herself. "She was just as bad. Sometimes she was scared of my father too but she emotionally abused me and she scared away any friends I had. So no, I did not plan vacations with my friends." Drew paused, memories flashing back in her mind.
Skylar raised an eyebrow. "Continue."
"But then it only got worse. I lost my uncle. He was more of a father to me than my own. Then I lost my husband for a while. Then I lost my unborn child and now... Now I've lost my sister." Drew's false smile faltered.
"Quite the opposite. You learned that I am actually your sister today." Skylar corrected.
An empty laugh emitted Drew's lips. "I already told you... You will never be my sister! And if you think you had it tough, I can only imagine how badly my father would have beaten you. I was his own daughter and you... You were better off without him in your life."
"As long as I had you in my life, I would have put up with anything. You're my sister and you're all the family I'll ever need." Skylar lowered her gun, stepping forward.
Drew contemplated whether to step forward and knock the gun out of her hand and tackle her but she was still in a shocked state, so she decided on stepoing further back, now in line with Damian.
"Are you that deluded? I see you inherited the pyscho trait from our mother." Drew clenched her jaw. "I will never be your sister."
A look of realisation wavered over Skylar's face. "You'll never change your mind. You don't want me either."
"No, I don't." Drew spoke blankly.
"Well, I guess that it was all for nothing. What a waste. After everything I did for you, it's only to end up killing you." Skylar placed her finger on the trigger, ready to shoot. Meanwhile, Drew squeezed her eyes shut and accepted her fate. Her only regret, leaving Reve behind. "It was nice knowing you Drew Wilder."
A gunshot echoed through the air.
