Slowly, he seemed to be getting closer and Drew's heartbeat seemed to be getting faster. Almost immediately, she stood up.
"Stop." She found that she was distancing herself further by pacing back.
In confusion, Logan stood up too. "What? What's wrong?" He asked. He was eager to know if he'd done something wrong.
"Do you like me?" She simply asked, gripping the sapphire locket he'd gotten her.
"What are you talking about?" He remained confused.
Drew rolled her eyes. "Ever since the kiss, you've been different. I don't know how to explain it. Then, you gave me the locket. What am I supposed to think?" She enquired.
"Oh." Logan clasped his hands in realisation. "You think I was trying to kiss you?"
"You weren't?" She was now unsure of his feelings towards her.
Laughing, Logan shook his head. "No. I mean, you're great and I don't mean to lower your self esteem but... No."
"Then why have you been acting weird around me recently?" Drew sat back down and Logan joined her.
"I've been trying to figure out a way to tell you. Me and Skylar are going out. It's new and recent. I guess we hit it off on Christmas. That's probably what's come off as weird or different about me." Logan explained. "As for the locket, I got that for you beforehand as a Christmas present."
Still processing this new information, Drew opened her mouth in realisation. "Oh." She gave a slight laugh. "Well, I'm happy for you. Why didn't you just tell me that?"
Logan shrugged. "You're like sisters. I didn't know whether there were boundaries there or... I don't know." He paused for a moment. "We don't really know each other at all, do we?"
~Flashback~
"Drew?" Skylar sighs in relief and pulls her into a tight embrace but Drew remains stiff, too afraid to move.
"We thought something had happened. You didn't pick up your calls. Maybe you should've taken more than just two weeks off-" Once Skylar catches sight of the blood, she stops rambling. "Oh my god. Drew, are you hurt? Why is there so much blood?"
Before she can even say a word, Drew passes out in her arms. Skylar's instincts overtake her shock as she carries her into the backseat of her car.
~The Next Day~
The memories came flooding in with the light when Drew opened her eyes. "Wha- Where am I?" She asks, half knowing the dreaded answer.
"You're in the hospital." A voice answers to her right. She immediately sits up and sees Skylar stand up and make her way over to the bed Drew is currenty lying in.
"Did you know?" Skylar whispers. When Drew doesn't answer, Skylar knows. "Why didn't you tell me?"
Drew shakes her head and tears come pouring down her satin cheeks. "I lost my baby." She cries.
Skylar holds on to Drew. "It's okay. I'm here for you." Though it pains to ask, Skylar can't help but question, "Did he know?"
Shaking her head, Drew continues sobbing.
"Finn had to leave but he waited all night with you. I took over in the morning." Skylar informs Drew.
"Thank you." Drew manages to muster. In a crazy way, although she was falling apart, it felt like she still had some family left. She took comfort in knowing that.
~Present Day~
An intense moment filled the room as Drew came back to reality. She gazed into Logan's eyes and all she could feel was guilt. It was as if she was looking into Reve's eyes. His brother was here grieving over him, yet, he wasn't even dead. In a way, she started to find the whole situatiom ridiculous and almost told him but something caused her to bite back her words.
"Do you think it would've been different?" Logan broke the silence. "If I would have moved back here with Reve?" For a moment, he saw a whole other life flash before his eyes.
"Maybe." Drew agreed. "I suppose it would have been easier when we lost him. We would've had each other."
Logan had a guilty expression. "It could have been me instead. Then, it wouldn't have mattered to the world."
"I suppose we all wish we could change the past in some way but things work out in the end. It's all leading upto something." Drew stopped him from blaming himself. "If it had been you, I don't think Reve could have taken it. You know, he only held himself together for you, his little brother."
He took a cup in his hand. "At least he would still be alive. Maybe the person who murdered him would have murdered me instead."
"Or maybe you both would have ended up getting killed." The guilt flooded through Drew again. She felt as if she was decieving Logan, making him think they had a mutual grievance, when she very well knew Reve was not dead.
"I was just a coward. Always a scared little boy haunted by the death of his parents." There was a sorrow in his tone. "You're lucky, you know." Drew made eye contact. "You have people that care about you. Finn and Skylar are like your family and I've heard at the agency, you're very popular. You have a home and you belong somewhere. You belong here."
In a slight awe, Drew was stuck for words. She never thought about it like that. She always thought her house didn't feel like a home anymore when Reve was no longer with her but she didn't think about the people she still had. He was right, this was her home and she couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
For Logan, it was so much more different. He didn't seem to have any close friends like Drew did. It peaked her interest how someone like Logan didn't have a whole bunch of friends. He had no problem socializing. Maybe he differed from his brother in that sense. Reve used to have many friends he still kept in touch with over the years but Logan seemed lonely almost. It kind of made Drew glad that he was with Skylar.
"It could be your home too, you know." Drew didn't even realise the words left her mouth. "If what you and Sky have is real then... Who knows? You might have found a home with us."
"Only if Reve was here. He always wanted me to come back to New York." Logan stared into the ditance.
This was it, the irony was too much. The guilt was too much. "I'm so sorry, Logan." Drew stood up. "I have to go."
