Elena's pov

The plane lands and I pull my bag out of the shelf above the seats as fast as I can, I sprint off the plane and through the various sections of the airport to find the exit. Once I'm outside I hop in the first taxi that I see, I give directions to the hospital and tell the driver to go as fast as possible. On the ride there my mind starts to think about the gang and having to see them all again, I wondered if they would hate me now or more like who does hate me now.
A while later the car comes to a stop and I run out as fast as possible, I hear yells from the taxi driver but it's not like I had any money to give him if I wanted to.
Once I get inside of the hospital I slow myself down a little not wanting to accidentally hit anyone. I walk down a hallway and see Sodapop, the normal happy grin was washed off his face and covered with a deep frown, it didn't look good on him. Ponyboy is sitting in the chair closest to me fast asleep, I've only been gone for a few months but he looks way more muscular than before. On the other side of Soda is Darry, I feel my heart drop a little when I see his face, he's awake but it looks like he's reading something. I shake off that weird feeling and walk fast down the hallway past them straight to the front desk. I hear them move in their chairs behind me.
"Elena?" Soda's voice squeaks.
I turn to look at them and by now Pony is awake and they are all starring at me, I smile and wave and turn my attention back to the lady behind the desk.
"Hi can I see Grace Sanders please." I ask with a fake smile plastered across my face.
"I'm sorry miss you'll have to wait until visiting hours start." The lady smiles " you can have a seat over there if you'd like" she says point to the seats across from the guys.
I give her a light smile and go take a seat across from Soda. All the boys are still starring at me but I try to avoid eye contact. I watch as the lady behind the desk slips out to go do something.
"Hi." Pony whispers still half asleep.
I ignore him and walk back to the desk looking around to make sure the coast is clear. I go behind the desk and search through papers to find out which room Grace was in, I could have asked Soda or Darry but then they probably would make me wait to see her.
"What are you doing Elena?" Darry's strong voice asks as he walks over to me.
"139." I smile at Darry feeling accomplished.
I come back around the other side of the desk Darry moves in my way when I try to go down the hallway where Grace is.
"Wait until Visiting hours." Darry says sounding almost mad.
I roll my eyes at him shove him out of my way with my shoulder, he's taken by surprise so are Pony and Soda all of their eyes wide.
"Don't tell me what to do." I mutter at Darry and continue my way down the hall.
"What the fuck was that?" I hear Soda say faintly as I walk into room 139 smirking to myself.
Grace opens her eyes as soon as I walk in. She gives me a small smile and looks away.
"Hey." I whisper.
Looking at Grace like this makes me feel awful, if I had never left this would have never happened, this is all my fault. I cross the room and I feel tears forming in my eyes, she's so small, she looks like she could snap in half if it were to windy.
"Hey, it's not your fault." Grace says in the quietest voice I've ever heard.
"But it is, I'm so so so sorry Grace." I choke tears staining my cheeks.
Grace pats the space on the bed next to her and whispers come here. I curl up on the bed next to her holding her in my arms, all the things that have happened to me over the past year have made me a stronger person, but I never thought I would be stronger than Grace. She seemed so weak and broken laying in her hospital bed and all I could think about was how everything was my fault.
