*Elena's pov*
It's a date.
I click off my phone and throw it on the bed, smiling for no reason. I peek out into the living room to see Grace and Soda watching a movie on the couch. I walk out past them to go to the bathroom to shower.
"Hey loser, what are you smiling about?" Grace says, making me stop and turning to them. They were intertwined under my blanket that i specifically told her not to use, but didn't want to ruin their "moment".
"I don't know, why are you wearing my shirt?" I ask smiling harder, avoiding her question because i didn't really know the answer. She looks down and Soda laughs.
"It looks cuter on me" she says giggling. I roll my eyes and walk to the bathroom and get ready.
I dry my hair and leave it natural and curly. I put on normal makeup, and Grace's lip gloss that Dally said suited me. I put on high waisted black shorts and a light pink tie dye shirt displaying a band i used to listen too. I throw on white converse, and walk out the bathroom. I walk past Grace and Soda who were now making out and mumbled goodbye as i left.I pulled up at the busy bowling alley shortly after. I got out of the car and fix my hair before walking towards the entrance. As i approach i notice Dally leaning against the wall stepping on the butt of his old cigarette and lighting a new one. Dallas had a bit of a smoking problem. When he saw me his eyes lit up, causing me to smile which was odd. I like Dally, i really do. Convincing myself that I love him as a friend has been getting increasingly harder.
"Hey doll" he says looking me up and down, interrupting my unsorted thoughts. I smile at him and he takes my arm, leading me into the bowling alley.
The music is loud and the place is packed like it is every friday night. We walk through the neon flashing lights and smoke, past people cheering at good scores and pins knocking down. This place wasn't Soc or Greaser territory, so i had nothing to worry about.
"You look nice" dally says in my ear, so i would hear him over the music and people.
"Thanks. You do too" I say smiling.
"I always do" He replies smirking, causing me to roll my eyes. We walk up to the counter to get our shoes; he takes one more drag of his cigarette before putting it in the ash tray on the counter.
"Prepare to get your ass kicked" I say devilishly. His eyes get wide and he laughs.
"Don't hold your breath" he replies winking.Dally enters our names "Dal & El" and i go first. As i'm about to step up to the lane, i see the bumpers come up along the side on the gutters.
"What happened?" I asked turning to Dally. He starts cracking up, as he lights another cigarette.
"Thought you could use the extra help Doll" he replies smiling, happy with himself and the joke he pulled.
"I hate you" I say, making him laugh harder. After a few games of Dally getting angry at the kids for taking "his" bowling ball, and me getting strike after strike, we decided to stop.
"I won. 3 out of 5 games" i say smiling proudly. He sits on the stool and throws his arms up in defeat.
"I would have won if it weren't for those damn kids" He says. I walk over to him and sit next to him and our knees touch.
"They didn't do a thing wrong. You're just a sore loser" I say smirking.
"Oh am I?" Dally says softly, leaning closer to me. My brain starts to rush with thoughts, of the confusing feelings i had towards him. I stand up to prevent whatever he had in mind and pull him up with me. I take his hand and lead him to the concession stand to get drinks. Dally ordered us cokes, while flirting with the cashier who looked about Pony's age. She was enjoying it, until i stepped in a pulled him away from her.
"What's wrong? Jealous or somethin'" Dally says laughing.
"Don't get too full of yourself" i reply. When we both get bored of the scenery we walk out of the bowling alley. Dally walks me to my car with his arm around me and holding me close to his side.
"Hey, i had a lot of fun tonight" Dally says smiling at me. I look down at my shoes and smile.
"Yeah me too" I reply. I take a step towards him and wrap my arms around him in a hug. He pulls me closer to his chest and rests his chin on my head.
"For the record, i let you win" He says. I pull away just enough to see his face, and just enough to have his arms still wrapped around me.
"Uh huh. I bet you did" I say, and we both laugh. I kiss his cheek before pulling away and walk over to the driver side.
"You need a ride?" I ask him. He smiles and shakes his head
"No actually, I got stuff to do".
"Be careful". Dally winks and turns to walk away. He lights another cigarette, which illuminates his face in the cold night. I start my car and drive to the apartment, my mind trying to sort out how the hell i felt about him.
When i get home Soda and Grace are asleep on the couch, so i sneak past them to my room. I lay on the bed not even bothering to take my shoes off. I felt high, intoxicated, even though i was completely sober. I haven't felt this way in a while, that's why it took a little bit to remember this feeling was happiness. Everything felt right, everything that happened in my life that hurt, felt better. My mind was peaceful, and made up. When i dozed off to sleep, i knew exactly how i felt. I knew exactly what i wanted in my life, what i wanted to do with it, and exactly how i felt about Dallas Winston.
