I always hated fighting with Tom. But it was unavoidable when he is always gone and when he is actually home, I work late.

It was no secret to Tom or I that tensions were high as he packed to leave, yet again. "Do you have your phone charger?"

"Yes."

"What about the charger for your computer?"

"Yes."

"What about....."

"I have everything, Y/N." Tom said harshly, cutting me off.

"Sorry," I said softly looking at my hands. With my bangs covering my eyes, I couldn't see the guilty look on his face.

"Y/N," he tried to say.

"I'll be in the car." I said, cutting him off. I turned around and started down the stairs. Once I got in the car, I put the keys in the ignition and leaned my head against the steering wheel. Tom walked out of the house, put his suitcase on the ground, and turned to lock the front door. When he turned around, he froze as he saw me leaning against the steering wheel. Sighing, he quickly put his suitcases in the back of the car and got in the passenger seat.

I lifted my head and sighed as I pulled out of the driveway. We drove in silence the whole way to the airport. We were almost to passenger drop-off when Tom broke the silence.

"Y/N?" Tom said softly. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see him staring at me. "Please, can we talk?"

"About what?" I said with no emotion.

"You know what, darling." He sighed.

"The fact that you're leaving? The day after we had a big fight? There is nothing to talk about Tom. It's your job. I understand. It's fine."

"Why do I feel like it isn't?" He said softly.

"Don't make it sound like this is all my fault, Tom. We both knew what we were getting into when we started dating. We both knew it wouldn't be easy. So if you're giving up," I paused as we pulled up to passenger drop-off.

"No! I'm not. I'm not giving up, Y/N. I just feel like you aren't trying to make it work." The minute he said those words, the look on his face showed that he wished he could take those words back. "No! That's not what I meant, Y/N. I didn't. . ."

"You're going to miss your flight if you don't leave now." I said, biting back tears.

"Y/N, please. Let's talk about this."

"We don't have time. You're going to be late," I said looking out the driver side window. I heard the door open and close before hearing the trunk open and close.

Tom tried to get my attention, but quickly gave up before heading inside. With tears streaming down my cheeks, I put the car in drive and headed home.

A Few Weeks Later

It's been three weeks since Tom left and we have said barely anything to each other since he left. We tried to call everyday but after the first week, we called less and less. And now, we don't call at all.

I went to the kitchen and started to look through the cabinets, wondering what I was going to make for lunch. I sighed when I noticed we were out of pretty much everything. I made a cup of tea and sat on the counter, sipping it slowly and scrolling through Instagram. My heart stopped when I saw a picture of Tom that Harrison posted. Tom was in his Spider-Man suit, with his mask in his hand, talking to Robert Downey Jr.

I set my phone down and put my head in my hands. Tears started to fall as I realized how selfish I was being. Tom is doing something he loves to do and all I can focus on is how he leaves. I wiped my tears away and called Nikki as I left the apartment and headed to the store.

"I don't know, Nikki. I just feel like Tom and I are drifting apart. And to be honest, I'm just starting to get tired of trying because every time I make an effort. . .nothing." I sighed as I pulled out of the driveway. It might seem weird that I talk to Tom's mom about everything but ever since my mom died two years ago, Nikki has been like a second mom to me.

"He's just been really stressed, honey. I'm sure that as soon as he is done filming Spider-Man, things will go back to normal with you two." She said sadly.

"He's barely called me since he left. I want to call and talk about all of this but I know he is busy filming. We just have this weird long distance, "he's here and then he's not" act going on. And I don't know how much longer I can handle that type of relationship. I'm tired of fighting. "

Suddenly, all I could see was black. I could hear Nikki calling out my name, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't respond. The last thing I remember was the sirens that echoed as they got louder.
