"... Are they okay?" We finally made eye contact. He gazed back at me sadly and didn't respond. "Why aren't you saying anything? What happened to them?" My heart raced with fear.
"You don't know?"
"Seokjin, what happened to my parents?" My chest tightened and a lump formed in my throat.
"They killed themselves, Y/N." Tears welled up in my eyes. "You missed the funeral."
"W-When.." I managed to say, tears rolling down my cheeks.
"2 years ago. They spent all their money trying to find you and ended up going broke. They couldn't handle it and.." He let his words trail off.
"How did I not know?" I whispered shakily.
"9 years, 0 contact. How could you have possibly known?"
".. Excuse me." I stood up and quickly walked off to my room, shutting myself in. My blood boiled as I processed what he had said. I screamed into a pillow then threw it against the wall. 'I'm so stupid!' I kicked a chair over and clenched my fists till they bled from my nails digging into my palms. 'I ran away so that they could save money, but they used it all on me! It's because of me that they're dead!' I threw my sheets off the bed and threw my other pillow onto the floor. I kicked the bedside table over and was about to tear the pillow I threw onto the floor apart when it was ripped out of my hands. Hands grabbed my wrists tightly as arms wrapped around me.
"Stop.. Just stop.." He whispered as he hugged me, restraining my wrists. I sobbed quietly and hung my head down.
"I can't believe it.." I squeaked.
"It's okay." His grip tightened as he pulled my body closer to his. "Don't worry. They're happy now."
"They died not knowing where I was or if I was alive." I sobbed.
"They know that you're alive and well now. Live happily and they'll be happy." We stayed like that until I calmed down. He slowly let go of my wrists and sat me down on my bed. "Are you okay?" He crouched down in front of me to level his eyes with mine.
"Yeah.. Sorry."
"It's okay, I understand." He said softly. "If you ever need to talk about it, tell me. Okay?" I nodded as he wiped my tears with his thumb, making me blush slightly.
"Thank you.." I whispered, looking down at my lap.
"No problem." He chuckled as he tilted his head slightly. "Are you blushing?" I couldn't help, but smile sheepishly and scratch my cheek in embarrassment. "Why are you blushing?" He laughed.
"Shut up.." I covered my blush with the back of my hand.
"Aw~ You're embarrassed!" He teased.
"Stop it!" I laughed, burying my face in my hands.
"Why are you embarrassed? Do you like me?" He joked.
"Don't act like you didn't have a crush on me!" I shot back. He flushed red.
"T-That was years ago!"
"You liked me for 6 years!"
"W-Well- You- I mean-" He gave up and just burst into laughter. "Give me a break! You were pretty, I couldn't help it!"
"Am I not pretty now?" I joked.
"No, you are! Wait.." We both blushed even harder and laughed in embarrassment. When we both calmed down we were panting from laughing so hard.
"Argh, my ribs hurt.." He groaned as he clutched his ribs.
"... I'm sorry for leaving." I looked down at my hands and fiddled with my thumbs.
"You don't have to be." He smiled as he sat on the mattress next to me. "You didn't know about me anyway."
"Still... You said you were really upset."
"To be honest, I was. I planned to tell you how I felt that day, but you didn't come to school. I waited for you to come back the next day, but you didn't. When I tried asking around about you, no one knew you so I was left on my own. I waited for a year and eventually I accepted that you were never coming back." I felt a stab of guilt.
"Why did you like me anyway? There were plenty of other girls.."
"I don't know.. You were smart, quiet and pretty. All the other guys liked the popular, loud girls, but I hated them. They just wanted attention."
"Ugh, tell me about it." I groaned, thinking back to all the times they did things to cry for attention. "But thank you. You're not too bad yourself."
"Not too bad? I'm goddamn fabulous." I jokingly face-palmed.
"Wow, so humble." I said sarcastically. We both laughed and continued to talk about the past when the doorbell rang. Seokjin answered it and didn't come back for a while, making me worry. I walked out of the room and he nodded to the man at the door before closing it. He smiled at me and held up the bags he was holding before walking off to his room. 'So he was the guy dropping off his stuff? Why were they talking for so long though?' We met back in the living room and I asked him about it, making him sigh.
"Eunbi.. She completely destroyed my house."
"What?! How?!"
"Acid."
"How did she get acid?! She's crazy!"
"I might have to officially move in with you." He sighed as he massaged his temples in frustration. "Sorry."
"It's okay. You bought this house anyway." I shrugged.
"That house was worth millions of dollars.." He growled. "And she destroyed it. I had so many things in there that I can't get back now. My dog was in there as well."
"No! Is it okay?" I loved dogs.
"I don't know." Suddenly, the door bell rang again. It was the man again expect this time he was holding a weak, white dog. "JJANGU!" Seokjin grabbed the dog and hugged it tightly. "WHAT HAPPENED?!"
"He's just tired. We had to take him to the hospital because he inhaled too much toxic gas. He just needs to rest for a few days." The man said.
"My poor Jjangu..." Seokjin stroked the dog gently. "Can he stay here?" His eyes were full of hope and desperation, making me immediately nod. He smiled slightly as he thanked the man and closed the door.
"Poor dog.." I gazed down at the weak, white dog sadly. He carried Jjangu to his bedroom and let it rest on his bed.
