Kiara's POV
The celebrations continued as the pack welcomed the new member with all sorts of gifts and well wishes.
The Alpha house was littered with party decorations, balloons reading,' It's a girl!' and people entering non-stop.Amongst all the havoc, I stood at the corner observing the people incoming. I could place most of their names like in the party though people do change.
Teresa was the embodiment of that, her once tamed red hair and innocent green eyes now narrated a contrasting story. Since there wasn't a birthing woman, I had time to go over her changes.
Her red hair was now dip dyed strawberry pink and her eyes screamed bad ass. Her wardrobe seemed to have changed from vibrant rainbow colours to shades of grey. Yet, her smile was just as warm and welcoming, her words inviting you to talk to the amazing person that she is. I wondered what happened.
My answer came in the form of a person, Maddox wrapped his hands around her waist from behind and she turned to smile at him. That small action was enough to give me a clear view of her mark.
"That's a nasty scowl you got there." I jumped a little at the sudden voice.
"Brandon, you scared me."
"What were you so engrossed in?" He asked looking in the direction I was staring at.
"Just seeing how everyone has changed over the years, feels like I have been gone for so long."
"You have." I turned around and smiled at him.
"I'm here for now."
"I had a question for you, Miss On-The-Run." He teased, pulling out a chit from his back pocket.
"What's that?" I opened the four folds and couldn't help but let a grin slip past my lips.
"'Will you go out with me?'" I read out. A wave of nostalgia hit me as memories started fighting for preference. Everytime we had gone on a date, either one of us had asked through a chit.
It has started in seventh grade when he had first asked me out in our math class. Of course, then it just meant hanging out and getting candy.
I looked up and kept my eyes on his and nodded."So, tomorrow. Be ready." I nodded once again.
"So, what were you looking at before and don't give me vague answers."
"Just seeing how Teresa's mate is Maddox." I paused, "it makes sense though, seeing how often she was the only one who stood by him even when he was wrong."
"I was against it too and Jacob was a furious to say the least, but his personality did a complete one-eighty a year or so after you left. He isn't the guy he was before."
"Perhaps."
I could feel the warmth radiating from his body beside mine and it sent shivers down my spine, how only his presence could turn my world upside down was beyond me.
We both stood in comfortable silence his hand on my waist, staring at the happy couple.
"I'm glad you're back, Ki." I frowned at him statement, I wasn't back. I still had another year of college.
"I still have another year of college to finish." It was clear Brandon wasn't happy at my words, but that couldn't change reality.
"You can't go away again." I felt him tense beside me, he pulled his arm from behind me and turned to look at me.
"I don't want to, but my dreams don't change because you came along." I wanted to slap myself for saying the words that made his eyes hold so much pain.
