I shielded my eyes from the streaming sunlight, an even breathing filling up the space.
I looked around to what I assumed was Brandon's room, all of last nights incidents playing through my mind.
After a while of my teasing, Brandon realized he had exercised enough control and not soon after did we find ourselves in his house, up in the third floor. The beta house was empty, Brandon probably took care of the explanations regarding the requirement of the vacant house, not sure if he even had to though. Both his parents and mine were probably more than eager to let us go.
Now that my eyesight was actually clearing and I was sans wolf hormones, I took in the damage in the room.
Clothes were everywhere, furniture was knocked over, books had fallen from shelves which seemed quite odd since the shelf was on the other side of the room.
I turned around to face Brandon, his breathing was still level. His hair was disheveled courtesy to me, of course. My hair accidentally brushed the delicate skin where my mark was and I couldn't help but let out a hiss, waking Brandon up in the process.
My eyes had shut in reflex, I hadn't predicted the aftermath would be this painful.
"What happened?" Brandon's panicked voice registered in my brain and I shot my eyes open to comfort him but it had the opposite effect.
"Kiara, your eyes!" He exclaimed, bringing his hands to cup my face.
"What about them?" I was burning at every inch that he touched me and it wasn't the fire of desire.
"They are glowing." I wanted to laugh at how ridiculous he was sounding, but before I could he sat me up and turned to me towards the mirror on the dresser.
He wasn't wrong. I didn't know what to take from the reflection, everything about my face was the same except my eyes glowing a fierce golden. A contrast to my previously blue eyes.
"Brandon, wha-why?" I fumbled out, looking at him for reassurance, for him to tell me that it's okay to have inhuman eye colour after mating.
"I don't know, let's not panic. Are you hurting?"
"Only my mark." I replied, moving my hair from the way, only to have the place where there should be a black mark glowing the same way.
Brandon hesitated in bringing his hand over to my skin, probably not wanting to cause me more hurt.
I held my breath as his fingers lighting glazed the area taking the pain away with the smooth touch."Better?" He asked as I let out a moan for an answer.
"What's happening to me?" Brandon didn't answer, his eyes had turned darker, indicating his wolf had taken over.
"Aria." A voice I didn't recognize replaced his, calling out to my wolf who didn't hesitate to surface.
"Ryder." It was like I had handed over my body's control to someone else, I was now seated at the corner, just watching over things playing out."Are you okay?" Ryder brought his face closer our foreheads inches away from each other.
"I don't know what's happening, I feel a power coursing through our veins but I can't understand it. It's so foreign."
"Who would know what this is?"
"I'll call our mother. She might know something." Those were deemed as parting words because I felt myself regain control."I've never done that." Brandon, now back to himself, said.
"Nor have I."
Call her, Kiara. There isn't much time. Aria urged.
I dialed the number and it rang a couple of time before she picked up, "Expecting grandchildren so soon? All of us a-" I didn't let her finish.
