Jonathan's POV
Once all of us met at the cafeteria and only waiting for Brock, we were surprised to also see Brian beside him with a usual book in hand. They sat together and there's a moment of silence.
"So, did he...?" Evan asked, breaking the silence. All of us look at Brock and he have a huge smile on his face.
"He finally agree!" He announced.
"I knew it!" I exclaimed. They looked at me surprised but also cheered and move along.
"How did ye do that?" David said in his thick irish accent.
"Oh you know. No pressure, little bit of a talk, yada yada yada, then I changed his mind." He explained. Brian just keep silent and continue on reading like it's not a big deal.
"You said yes to Brock but not to me who's your friend for almost two years?" Ryan said in a fake offended voice towards Brian. Brian only rolls his eyes at him while Brock giggled. I swear there's something going on between these two. The others might have notice it but didn't say a thing. Just letting the two figure it themselves.
We sat there and chat with each other. I sometimes caught Evan who's across me, staring at me and I couldn't help it but ask.
"Uhmm.. is there something on my face?" I asked as I try to wipe if any dirt was on my face. His cheeks turned pink and eyes wide open as he shake his head.
"N-none." He stuttered and looked away, starting a conversation with Tyler beside him.
He's judging you.
I stare at my food on the table and ignore the sounds around me.
"Jonathan!" Craig called out my name. I snap back to reality and look at him.
Everyone in the table caught their attention by Craig's sudden shout. They have worried in their faces.
"Are you ok? You've been spacing out a lot of times." He asked.
"I am?" I asked. I look back at my food and frown.
I'm not spacing out. Am I?
My mind went blank. I just look down and snap back again when Craig shook my shoulder.
"There he goes again!" Craig exclaimed. My eyes widen and shake my head.
"I'm fine! I'm fine! I'm just thinking a lot of things. That's all." I explained but they looked not convinced.
"Jon, are you sure you're really ok?" Luke asked. Still showing that concern.
Physically? Yes. Mentally? No.
I smiled, I want to end this talk to be done.
"Yeah. I swear, I'm ok." I assured not only to him but all of them. I didn't left the smile on my face and to not look suspicious, I start to talk to them. Then, they go along until they finally get over the topic. I'm glad they didn't ask to much question and let me be.
"Hey Jon. Are ye sure Brian is good?" David whispered through my ear. I nodded my head in confirmation.
"So good." I whisper back at his ear. He frowned and I couldn't help but giggle. He started to pout, making his cheeks bubble and I couldn't help but pinch it. He started to complain but I still didn't let go until I feel someone's looking at me with daggers in its eyes.
I look around and saw Lui across David looking at us with a frown and a hint of... jealousy?
I let go of David's cheeks and looked away but also saw Luke and Evan staring at us with the same expression as Lui.
Now I'm uncomfortable. David laughed nervously while scratching the back of his neck. I shrugged it off and chat with Craig who's on my right side.
The bell rang, meaning, lunch is over so we head to our own classes. While walking back with Craig, Evan, David and Marcel, Evan didn't left his stare at David and making David scared and keep distance at him. Marcel lowly snicker at the two while me and Craig looked at the three confused.
We entered the class and right then it started. I somehow got bored because I already know the story the Prof wants us to read. I just get my notebook and start doodling some random things at the back of it. I didn't know I spaced out until I heard the bell loudly rang. I look back at my notebook and was horrified on what I drew on it. I closed it immediately and hid it in my bag so that no one could see it. I don't know why I drew that.
A stick figure with a rope around the neck and hanging on a tree.
There are also words written all over the paper that I heard so much before.
Freak. Nerd. Faggot. Useless. Ugly. Worthless. Unloved. Retard. Disgusting. Bitch. Loser. Failure. Disapointment.
My thoughts were filled with self-hate and I just buried my head on my armchair and tried my best to ignore the feeling.
[Time Skip]
Me and Craig are finally at home. Sitting on the couch while watching some news on tv. Since we don't teach Evan and Tyler anymore, we have the time for ourselves till the rest of the day.
"I'm bored." Craig spoke then lay his head on my lap.
"Yeah, me too." I agreed. Truth to be told, there's nothing else to do in the house. We already cleaned it and right before the school ends we already finished all of our homework so there's nothing left to do. Plus, tomorrow's Saturday.
"When is it again the competition begin?" He asked.
"On monday." I answered. He jolt up with eyes wide open.
"Monday?! Then they only have two days! That's not enough time to practice together!" He exclaimed.
"Don't worry. They got this. Tomorrow they will practice in the gym at school."
"Does the school open in weekends?"
"Yep."
"How are you so confident that they'll do good?"
I look at him and smile.
"Because they are good. Plus, they have Brian in their team so they'll surely win." I said and he goes back on laying down on my lap.
"I don't know why you picked Brian to replace Lui out of all people in the school. I mean, not to be sound rude but I don't see Brian as an athletic person since he's so quiet and sometimes all by himself."
I mentally laugh. Sure he would be curious why of all people I picked Brian but that guy he's describing as quiet and sometimes all by himself have full of talents hidden inside him.
"Wait till you see tomorrow why." I finished and start playing with his pink curly hair. We stayed like that for I don't know how long until we became hungry and he started to cook something.
