"Yeah, uncle Julia. It's me," I say and hug him. "You look very different. I wouldn't recognize you but you can thanks to your black eyes. They reveal you," he says still hugging me. "You became a real woman. Beautiful woman," he says when holds my hand and spins me. "Please, don't exaggerate," I blushed. "It's true. Look at your cheeks," he caresses my cheeks and kisses me on the forehead. "Please, come in. Don't stand on the doorstep," he says and pulls me into the house. I took off my allstars and wear my dotted slippers which they still kept for me.
"Who is it, dad??" Alex shouts from upstairs. I showed to my uncle to be quiet. I ran upstairs in the living room. "Hello little one!!" I shout and laughed when I saw my cousin. Woah, he grew up! "Sara?? Really!? What a surprise!!" he shouts and pulls me in embrace. "Alex, you're smothering me!" I laughed. "If you weren't be my cousin, that would be love at first sight!" he says and laughs. "Hahah, go to hell," I say and we both laugh.
Uncle brought us a juice from the kitchen and poured it to us when we sat on the couch. "Where are Roser and Marc?" I asked when I drank a sip of my aunt's homemade raspberry juice. "Roser is on the market," Julia said. "And Marc is on the motocross," Alex adds. "He's not serious. During the season he's on the circuit, but otherwise he's on the motocross. Apparently nothing has changed," I said and we all laughed. "I was going to go there. You can go with me. He'll be very surprised when he sees you," Alex says and I nod. Absolutely! I am dying to see him!
"How's it in London?" uncle asked. I shrugged my shoulders: "Jonas put me in jail. We don't have internet, newspapers, radio, television... Our phone calls are limited. I apologize for not calling you. I talk only with my mum and... dad, with both of them only for five minutes, once a month."
Uncle and Alex are staring at me. "Are at least the people nice and friendly?" Alex asks and I nod: "Yeah. Professors and other employees are very nice. I can't complain about that. The only one who's problematic is director. Believe me that I wouldn't stay there if everyone were like him," I say and drink a juice. "What about your classmates?" Alex asks again. "They are amazing. I am the only Spanish, others are from Portugal, Germany, France. We have two Americans and one Chinese – he's the legend," I laugh when I remembered him. "Well, and of course there are a lot of English students. My best friend Kate is from Newcastle. I miss her already." Alex squeezes me in embrace. "Do you want to go back? You know that you're old enough to make your own decisions, right?" Uncle asks. "To be honest...I feel way better there than at home. Just because of dad. He won't leave me alone for whole month. He will despise me all the time. I don't even know what I did to him to act like that," I say looking to the floor because I don't want that they see the tears in my eyes. "I'll talk to him," Julia says holding my hand. "Thanks," I say and smile.
We hear that the door opened.
"I'm home!" It was Roser. The best aunt in the whole world. Alex runs downstairs to help her with the groceries. "We have a visit," he says to her. "Really? Who is it?" she asks. "Look in the living room," Alex laughs. I am sitting next to my uncle in the couch and I am very excited to see my aunt. When she finally steps in the living room, we both started crying and I rush into her embrace. "Sara, darling. You're finally home," she says through the tears caressing my hair. "Auntie," I whimper and hug her even more. We were hugging for a five minutes when we finally stopped crying and now we all laugh. "Don't go back to London. You don't even know how much we miss you at home," Roser says when we sat. "We've been talking about that right now, Roser," Julia says.
We talked about all sorts of things for a while, when I became increasingly impatient. During the conversation, Alex and I look at each other for couple of times and I hinted that we should go, because I was horrifying to see my favorite family member. However, Alex as Alex, he didn't understand my hints as always, so I almost lost my nerves. Not that I wouldn't talk to my aunt and uncle, but my desire to meet with Marc was bigger than sitting on the couch and talking about things we could talk about for a whole month.
"Alex!" I say when he looks at me. "You were on rush, right?" I ask. "Uhm, I don't think so," he says and lays back. "Yes, you were," I say and stand up, "you said that you'll go to the motocross." Uncle and aunt laughs, Alex was looking at me like a dumb: "How do you know? Well, I'll go tomorrow," he says, sitting and relaxing on the couch. I walked up to him and grabbed his hand and pulled him by myself. "No! You'll go today and I'll go with you. Tomorrow you can sit here all day and do nothing. Come on, let's go!" Uncle and aunt both know what I have in my mind so they continued laughing. "Bye, see you later," I say and wave to them.
"Ooouh, you'd like to see Marc!" Alex said when we put our shoes on. "Bravo, you're fast," I applause. Alex laughs: "I knew what you were thinking, but I was just joking with you."
Yeah, sure. I knew him that much I knew that he didn't have idea what I had in my mind.
We slowly walked about two kilometers away from the town. We laughed a lot and we talked about everything possible. When we were just in front of the motocross range, my heart began to beating like crazy. "Are you excited?" Alex asked me, who most likely perceived my nervousness. I nodded and smiled widely. We heard the engines and the sand was scraped all around. I didn't take much time to figured out who Marc was. He competed with two other guys and he was bold in the lead. Alex and I sat down on the grass and watched their racing. After about ten minutes they're done. I became more nervous. I was afraid that he wouldn't recognize me, because everyone from my family told me that I had changed so much. Since Marc is still far from us and talking with his friends, I took advantage and ask Alex: "Did I really changed so much?" Alex looked at me and laughed: "Why are you asking? Are you afraid that Marc wouldn't recognize you?" I nod and he laughs again. "Why are you laughing? Tell me," I said seriously and stood up. "What's different about me?" I insisted and stepped on my toes. He looked me from head to toe saying: "You're still the same... I just don't know... your hair is different color, different dress..." I nod. "You lost weight?" he looked at me questioningly. "I gained weight!" I exclaimed. "Oh, please!" he quickly said, stands up and raised me. "You don't have more than 50 kilograms! And you're hot. I mean - really hot."
I laughed and messed his hair. He still kept me in his arms when someone greeted us behind our back.
